A friend of mine does concrete work. He just re-did my driveway and back patio. His prices were the best I have found. Not sure if he will go all the way to SGV, but you can give him a call and find out. Can't hurt to try.
Pat - 714-936-8087. Tell him Danny, Rob's friend, told you to call.

I'll vouch for Andre' being a good guy to call.

What's considered a fair price for concrete these days? Let's say an 8" slab per sqft. I have a huge dirt area in front of my house that I would like to turn into a patio.

Just curious why would you want an 8" thick patio or driveway?
