Hey guys, I've been lurking here for a while now and now that I'm finally ready to pull the trigger on a boat, I need your opinion and expertise. I'm looking to do 85 plus on any given day in either a 27 Sabre Cat or the 2750 V, both Lavey Crafts. What is your opinion of the V at these speeds and how's it going to react, also same question on the Sabre. I am considering either the 525 with Whipple or the 600 SCI Package. I would appreciate your input.
Thanks!:)

Call Lavey and ask em.....425 HP gets the 2750 to 70, I'd think the 600 ought to get you to 80.... their 32 has twin 600's and runs in the 90's from what I hear.

I havent't ever been that fast in a 2750...Mine has a 496HO and runs a legit 70+ in havasu in any weather or water conditions...I've gone 100+ in a Saber and it felt incredibly stable...I guess my only question to you would be how much boating expierience do you have...The Saber is gonna be the easier boat to drive just point and shoot.

the sabre you went 100 in, is it ilmor 7-10 power (silver) if so how did the boat perform, did it have midrange acceleration and did it hit 100 mph
quickly?

you will be spending some bank in a motor upgrade (525 aint gonna do it, you need about 700 ponies) in the v-bottom if you expect "85 on any given day" dont forget you will then need to do upgraded steering and drive... good luck on that one... unless of course your money grows on trees...

I've been mid-80's in a 2750....it's an awesome ride!!! Even so...IMHO - You should be considering the Sabre for what you're looking for. To go "85 on any given day" - Mid-summer Havasu heat considered - that would be a 90+mph boat in cooler climates.
Your 2750 would have to be pretty light or you'll have to through a little more power at it. I'm trying to remember how power Chris's first Poker Run boat had, but it's not coming to me...LaveyOne should be here soon....he'll know.
The Sabre though will feel much more stable even at speeds even far above the one you're looking at.
Drive BOTH, and judge for yourself. You can't go wrong with Lavey for a quality product though.

A buddy of mine has a 2750 with an 800 in it and she runs 90 easy. There is some odd handling quirks that his boat has in flat water, but they are working on it.

Now how does this make any sense? They guy asks about a V and a Cat. You recommend a deck boat?
At least pitch your brand with a model he is looking for.

They have been working on that unsafe bottom for 5 years now.
Be very careful with the 2750. Hot Boat did a article on that boat a couple years back, they had a very special write up and nick name for that boat. I have driven one to the low 80's. (after Lavey tried to re work the bottom) It was by far the worse handling unsafe boat I have ever driven. It felt like it wanted to throw us out of the boat. Ask Boatnam about it here on the boards. It was his boat, as I pushed the stick forward he started holding like we were going where no man had gone before........... once we got up to speed I could see why!!!!! I would go Sabre or look at someone elses V bottom if you are after the speed. If it is the 2750 then stay under the 80's. Don't get me wrong Lavey builds some very nice boats, just not the best handling 27'.

It wasnt the silver one with the 7-10. It had a Teague 800 and was tested in Powerboat a few years ago and had a top speed of 110. The boat accelerated like mad and was a blast.:D The boat belongs to 6 Dollar Boat here on the boards you can PM him if you have questions on the Sabre with big power.

Mine is running a solid 84 -- lab 29 5 blade high x dimen. right now w/ some prop testing that still needs to be done. I believe a Herring 6 blade will get it to 90 possibly.... 525 EFI Boat is awesome......:D Whipple is being shopped right now.........

Best speed - 86 on gps under ideal conditions. Low 80's every day driving.
I have a 2750 with a 575, ITS, and a lab 29. Boat tracks great if you know how to drive it. Laveyone has a quick 2750 as well.
