Hey guys:
I'm going to the river this weekend and I just installed a "stereo" into my boat. The Alpine head unit has the high speed connection and I want to use my ipod. Are there any waterproof cases that you know of that give access to the bottom? If so where can I pick one up?
Thanks!
David

Go to E bay, search i pod waterproof, there are a lot offered. Most are top access, the Pelican case looks to on the side.

Make sure whatever case you buy has a data cable pass-thru -- most have a 3.5mm stereo jack pass-thru only. Since I couldn't find one made to work with a data cable, I bought a standard Pelican (no pass-thru) and modified it to work. It's not completely waterproof (ie water could probably get inside if the case was submerged) however for the amount of splash/spray that hits it I haven't had a problem.

With the Alpine high speed iPod connection, all control of the iPod is done through the head unit. Really no need for a waterproof case as long as you can store the ipod somewhere dry. Once hooked up, there is no need to access it.

Exactly, does anyone have the otter box? I dont want to buy anything and find out it doesnt have the data cable pass through. My friends are idiots so putting it in a dry place wont work. I swear theyd find a way to get it wet.

I have the "Otter Box" brand. The connection is through the top. It is water proof and floats if dropped in the lake. :jawdrop:
