The Marine Corp is finally the first ones to get it! If your old enough to sign on the dotted line and go to combat then your old enough for a beer
"The Corps-wide drinking age has been lowered from 21 to 18 for Marines on liberty overseas and for leathernecks taking part in official on-base command functions — including the birthday ball."

Well, actually they are the last ones to get it in the biggest sense. We (Navy) drink at 18 overseas and have for as long as I know of. The Marines are the first to officially adopt an on-base age of 18 in the states under special circumstances, and for that I applaud them.
Watching the poor Marines stand there sober while 18 year old Sailors could go drink was really stupid. Not that everyone abided by the law, but you get the idea...

When I was in the Army 89-92 it was 21. But got to drink in Saudi Arabia (not by Army standards though).

I think it is good. As long as it is regulated. If a kid is old enough to sign that dotted line, carry a weapon and deffend our country, he or she deserves a beer. :D

Haven't you heard? In the "new" Marine Corps, drinking is allowed, but fighting is not.

This should help savve some lives between pendleton and TJ on the freeway and keep some guys out of jail. I agree that they are risking their lives to protect our rights and should be awarded all of theirs.

It was a stupid law to begin with. If you are willing to hang your balls out in harms way, you ought to be able to enjoy a smoke and a beer.
