Anyone know if they sound as good as cubes for theatre? If so, which ones?

I have Niles Audio 8" in wall speakers for my theatre. They bang. I have two in the rear and two in the middle and far larger drivers in front for stereo stuff.
I built enclosures for them, which helped a ton with response. Kind of a pain in the ass to install in the ceiling, but worth it for the punchy response I gained. I run each with about 250 watts.

Almost all inwall speakers sound better than the cubes/Bose. Klipsch, Polks, Axiom, Infinity, Boston Acoustic, Thiel and so on.

I am running all Polk in wall stuff and am very happy.
I think the floor standing bigger stuff sounds better for music but I don't have the room.

It's not that it's small it just would look cluttered due to the TV/Fireplace location.
You could leave headphones on the TV stand in your livingroom and it would break your eardrums.
I think your gonna need a smaller TV;):D

I love my 8" polks. They rock! Used to have a Dennon and I miss it. It kept breaking so I got a nice Yamaha. Its nice but the Dennon was alot crisper.

That looks great! Niles aren't cheap, but they really do sound good in a surround application, and can run music pretty well. I find that the crossover frequency I run for movies isn't as great for music and tends to run them too low in the freqs so I just run stereo for music.
That said, I have JBL Northridge 5 way dual 12" studio monitors for my main stereo drivers... coupled with the aforementioned dual 12" powered subs.
I like bass... ;)
You should see the PA in the club room... :D

There are so many different speakers out there its tough to tell... I recommend Speakercraft. They are along the same line as the high end sonance and some of these speakercraft speakers rock. If you need help... PM me as I am a Home Theater Developer of a HUGE retail company. I will give you guys any adivce or specs you need in a few seconds.

I have a 7.1 system using boston acoustics session stuff.....blows me right off the balcony to the floor below....of course the Mitsubishi 63" HD DLP helps things a lot also....but playing the 360 in HD is the best...:D

LMAO!!! Bitch, an Ipod Shuttle with some earbuds is gonna be your home theater set-up. :D :D And your flat screen is gonna be a Sony PSP. Hey, at least they make movies for that. That will save you some space on a DVD player. :)

Nice. That looks like what I need to do. Your ceiling is just like mine. I might do them in the rear wall though. Not sure about the ceiling.
