My dad was having some heart issues so he went to the ER. While in there his 2005 Escalade ESV Limited Edition was stolen. This happened about 2 hours ago.
So, the doctors had him all better and he comes out to deal with this. Great focken news.
So, if you are in the Vegas area, please keep your eye out for a White Pearl Escalade ESV with 22" wheels and the license plate is SVIEW02, Nevada plates. It is/was super clean with very low miles.
Thanks.:(
EDIT: If you see it, please call 911

That sucks, last year in vegas my buddies lifted f-250, 25 foot boat and the truck fully loaded with pit bikes and tools got jacked from a casino at state line by two fat hookers our stupid buddy was messing with, they got it all back and everything pretty much intact. Good luck on the recovey.

#1 stolen car in Vegas. 2006 and later model Esclades has the onstar in the driver side piller. Can rip it out in seconds. 2007 models are a lot harder to get to. Just hope they dont find the car within 15 days so you can get a check. You do have insurance?

I have the early warning Lojack on mine. I took it in to the shop and forgot to give them the fob for the lojack. They moved it around back and I got a call from Lojack saying it has been moved.
Good luck on getting it back. I heard they are stealing them for the air ride & nav systems.

LoJack has to have "line of sight" to be detected, so if they're smart and park it inside a structure they can't pick up the signal. Hopefully you get it back, good luck and hope your dad is doing well.

My buddy is my insurance man, and he gets so pissed when something like this happens because he knows what Im going to say....
"Its worth more to the insurance company than it is to me!!"
You do what you can to prevent this type of bullshitt, alarms, lojack, onstar etc, but the bottom line I still believe is that if they want it bad enough they are gonna get it, your only hope is that they crash it into a tree killing all inside!!!!

Wow, sorry to hear this bro......I hope your pops is ok through all this, this suscks....but now I gotta ask, as I have a yukon XL, I have the onstar, which I know is worthless, so I have the second key, the one you slide in under the dash, and when I take it places I don't like, I pull both keys. Supposedly, there is no way to start the truck without it...who knows?? But I also thought there was a code embedded in the key, kind of a handshake thing, between the key and the truck, and the trucks computer would not fire the motor without the key....how did they get it?? Is it that easy, or does jacking one of them bad boys take a serious pro??? Give my best to your pops....

Here is the update....
The detective arrived at the hospital at 5 PM. However, my dad's cell was dead because he had no way of charging it. So the cop went inside the ER, and didn't see them. They were sitting in the main lobby because the ER is nuts. Makes sense to check there too, especially since the ER is not great place to wait. Nope, they guy left. Maybe "investigate" where the most likely place they would be waiting??? Like they wouldn't want to file a report for their missing $60k vehicle?
So, they called about every hour to see where he was at. He got back there at 9 PM. So, the LOJACK wasn't activate until after 9 PM. 7+ hours after the vehicle was stolen.
LOJACK told me that once you give dispatch the VIN # that they activate it immediately. Nope, the detective, once he files the report, activates it. Funny, they are looking at the tape of the theft, clearly see that it is stolen at 4:30 PM when looking at the tape, and they still dont activate it.
Will they find it, probably, but it will be gutted/stripped.
Detective did say that OnStar doesn't do squat. They rip that out immediately. LOJACK has a better success rate.
On the tape, from the time the black truck pulled up to the Escalade, it was gone within 1 minute.

Dad is OK for now, it isn't really bad yet. None of the docs there would do anything, so he has to wait for his doc to get back from hiking at the Grand Canyon tomorrow night. Hopefully he gets back in sync before then. He will head to his heart doc's house tomorrow night once the guy gets home from his trip to see if they need to go in and do the deal. Hopefully he takes it easy tomorrow and everything gets back in check.
Only owed $2500 left on it as well, a payment wasn't due until July of 2008. Whether they find it or not doesn't really matter, he wont want it anymore.
They will probably find it stripped in the next 2 days.

Sorry about your truck and hope your father is ok. A-fib in itself isn't fun. :(
For future reference, this will definately slow anyone (http://www.lawmancorp.com/) not towing a vehicle down. You CANNOT get this device off the brake pedal easily. I use them on all my vehicles and know this because I recently lost a key on my shop truck lock and had to cut it off. There are only 2 ways to get them off. A stout grinder or a torch. I ended up using a large DeWalt Grinder (something the average thief doesn't carry in the field). :) Sawzall metal blade won't even touch the hardened metal, just melts the blade if you saw on it long enough. Bolt cutter, forget it. They are tough bastards. They also give you $2500-5000 if your vehicle is stolen and the lock is removed by the thief.

Listen to this. Forget all that lojack, onstar, and try and cut me off strong bars. I put a Toggle Switch in between the Fuel Pump and the Power Supply. Of course only I knew where the switch was at. Switch, connectors, and a little time I didn't spend more than $10.00.
Well guess what someone tryed to steal my 2002 Dodge Intreped. Little did they know that I had shut the fuel pump down and they were not going to stick around. When I woke up the next morning and didn't find my car in it's spot I just looked down the road and there it was parked about 200 feet from my house. Only reason they got that far was by the fuel that was still left in the line. No damage no harm no foul and most of all nothing lost.
Like you mentioned earlier, they had your dads truck in less than a minute. They don't have the time to figure out why things don't work when they won't. They just get the hell out of there. I will PM you and tell you where I had mine if you would like. Just my $10.00

some of the best advise. i have used this on my chevelle for years. but i take the extra step and run it dry everytime. and this is one of the best reasons to toss the mechanical pump and run electric on the classics

He is feeling OK. Escalade still not found.
My brother said that the cop was a cadet, not a detective. Makes sense why he didn't investigate enough to go to the main lobby to find them. The main lobby has nice sofas and a coffee shop, where the ER has basic chairs. Where would you be waiting?

Sometime this morning it wsa recovered, but we were not notified until early this afternoon. They processed the vehicle and it is enroute to the Caddy dealer in Vegas. We were not told anything about the condition from the police.
We are sending someone to take pictures of it at 3 PM, so when I see the pics, I will follow up here with those pics since this has been a documentary. :)

Update:
The vehicle was found around noon via LOJACK.
The took the 22" wheels and tires and that was it! They replaced them with stock Chevy wheels then just left the Escalade in a parking lot in North Las Vegas.
There is some steering column damage and they gained acces through the door handle which is very common. A few little dents in the hood from something, but nothing a dent guy cant get out. No grease or anything on the interior and everything on the inside is exactly where they left it. Nothing else is missing. TV/DVD and Nav is still there.
He is still selling it, he is just putting the stock wheels and tires that were in the garage back on it and either trading it in or selling it. Dealership is fixing the other little things, but the truck should be ready to go mid next week.
Too bad LOJACK couldn't be activated within the first hour.
I cant believe they would risk this for getting $1000 in wheels and tires. New the things are only like $2500.

Sorry to hear about your father's problems.
I had my GMC Denali broken into on Tuesday. They punched the lock too, no damage outside other than that. They did rip apart the trim that is on the dash and ripped out the head unit. Stole an ipod and radar detector too. The ipod doesn't work though except through the head unit, so maybe I'll get the last laugh on that one.
Again, sorry for your father's loss.

2002 intrepid was fuel injected, if you found the fuel pump power wire and removed power to the pump the car would not start..period...regardless of the fuel left in the line. The ECM must confirm fuel pressure prior to running. This will also throw a code that will have to be reset by the dealer on some cars. If the car was down the street they pushed it, it wouldn't run.
Years ago this may have sounded like a good idea, I highly recommend NOT attempting this.

LOJACK is activated as soon as the vehicle is entered into the system as stolen. Only delay is getting a cop to your location.
Funny story. Last year I was in Vegas for the World Series of Poker. We stayed at the Marriott Extended Stay just down from the rio off the 15.
I parked my 06 Denali near the parking lot near the 15 side. View of it off Industrial just below several room windows. I went outside the next day and my door handle was pried, but nothing else. Appeared they were there and maybe got scared away. Odd.
Next night park in the same spot. Come out the next day to show my brother and there is more damage. I open the door and now the steering column is stripped, some blood on the door, but nothing else.
They came back on back to back nights, they wanted this car !! It has nice 22's on it, nice tires, and was almost brand new. It was very very clear they only wanted the rims, very similiar to what just happened with the Escalade.
The funnny part is when I bought the Denali, they installed this stupid chip below the steering wheel. It was like 300 bucks but didn't even ask me. I saw it in the pricing and contract. I was like I don't want this shit. Take it out. then I said **** it, keep it in. This stupid chip is what saved my whole Denali on back to back nights !! They got in the car, stripped the column but couldn't figure out why it didn't start !! No power and they were too dumb to figure it out.
I thought about sleeping in my car the next night because I know they would come back. I was going to shoot him in the back of the head right when they got it, of course in fear for my life. I didn't though and ended it there.
So be careful with any SUV with rims in Vegas !

Holy Crap man I never even thought about that. I will bet your right. They probably really wanted the car and pushed it down the street to try and figure it out. It's funny how years later you see things differently. I even remember testing the thing out. I would have it started, flip the switch and the motor would cut off. You are right about the code deal, every time I would test it time to time the Check Engine light would come on after words. I would have to go to Checker Auto parts and the guy would come out and reset it for me for nothing.

or they just undo the snap ring on the brake pettel and slide it off... its just an anoyance to them, nothing more. I've also seen cars where they just bend the pettle side ways...
