Looks like Robby was first in. BJ Baldwin had the lead, then rolled it twice right before the finish line.

Guess I was mistaken, RGordon actually rolled over the line 3rd? Anyway, I'm sure they'll have it all hashed out in the morning.
#12 Trophy Truck of Larry Ragland and Brian Collins first four wheel vehicle across the line at 19:10
#1 BJ Baldwin Trophy Truck finishing second phyically at 19:12
#71 TT Robby Gordon at 19:18
#3 TT Post/MacCachren at 19:20
#28 TT Alan Pflueger/Ricky Johnson finishing at 20:04
Cool. . . now I can go to bed.
I don't think my friends in JS 1790 will be in until sometime tomorrow morning. They're stuck in that bottleneck.
Goodnight everyone.

Unofficial times from SCORE Media at FINISH:
1. Ragland with time of 9:10:58
2. Gordon with time of 9:14:55
3. B.J Baldwin with time of 9:17:32
Rob spent an hour dicking with the 38. If he hadn't been held up, he'd have blown the field away.

corrected or time?
That's straight time. There's conflicting reports on different websites stating RG has it on corrected time, and others claiming victory for Larry.
I'm sure if BFG has anything to say about it, it will be Ragland's victory.

Yeah, RG drove a hell of a race. His sister said that his Dad was punted hard about 40 miles into the race in the Monster H3 by a green horn class 1 driver, gave the drivers whiplash and did major rear end damage to the H3, it is a rear engine vehicle..They are ok, but very sore and alot of work to be done to the H3. To bad, the H3 was giving the Tea Bags....I mean Touregs a run for their money.

This must have been a SUPER rough course because the fastest TT only averaged a little over 46 mph. In years past the faster TT and class 1's have averaged in the mid to high 50's.

No word on Jeepspeeds. :( I just talked to Jeff and he said that our friends 1790 (they built his chassis for the buggy) were first when they passed him this morning, but he doesn't know if they made it to the finish before the time out. For Jeepspeeds to finish a 500 mile race is awesome, but to finish first . . . there would definitely be some celebrating and grabassing going over here next week. :D
Okay, probably no grabassing. We'll leave that to the football players :) :D :) :D

Word I got was a racer broke down and was getting a ride in another race truck. In the back, not belted in.
Short version.... Truck rolled and ejected the guy from the back.

Same as I heard. Only I heard they went off quite a cliff. 30-50 feet. Driver and Co-driver were fine (belted in), but passenger was not.

This guy is/was a friend of mine. I receive the call this morning and just returned from Havasu. We had some of our desert friends down there with him running support for the car he was in. The car broke down and he stayed with the vehicle while the driver went for help. He hitched a ride with a 1505 truck and you know the rest of the story...
He's survived by his wife and a 6 month old little girl. Very sad day. He was an incredibly kind person who was "other centric" and always wanted everyone to have a good time. He loved the desert....
This pic was taken 2 weeks ago after the off road show in OC. He was as excited as a kid at Christmas to participate in this years Baja.

Terrible news. It appears he celebrated life.
Good trip for us, we will call it a win no matter what SCORE says. Missed the time out by 18 minutes. Only Jeepspeed to finish the course, we where just late.;) 2 hour bottle neck at MM211 timed out a lot of people.
This might be my last Baja as a support crew, I'm thinking its time to step up. Now if I could just find me a sugar daddy!

Jeff,
We saw the jeep a few times on Saturday...seemed to be plugging along just fine. Glad to hear you finished. I heard there was almost a fist fight at the bottle neck near mile 215. We heard about 25 trucks at one point.
We were with the McMillins, who had a tough race...Class 1 broke the camshaft about 1 mile out of the San Telmo pit (mile 186).
The trohphy truck broke a tranny on the beach at mile 315 and replaced it, 3 hours later, they were on their way.
The 1600 car got rear ended which broke the tranny, it was replaced on the trail just past the bottle neck (around 8:00pm or so), then they had electrical problems and had to get towed 9 miles or so to mile marker 286 (with only 6 hours to finish). We sent them off and headed home. Got into San Diego this morning around 6:30. Put in a full day of support :D ... time for bed.

Took this from a thread on Race-Dezert.
Christopher R. Lokken
a.k.a. "Mr. Nibbles"
April 18th, 1976 to June 2nd, 2007
Chris Lokken, affectionately known as "Mr. Nibbles", was tragically taken from all of us on June 2nd, 2007. He was killed while participating in one of the most prestigous off-road races in the world, the SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico. Chris was filiming on board a chase helicopter during the first few hours of the race, after which he was the co-driver in a Class-1 race car, #157.
#157 suffered a mechanical failure near race mile 197. Chris hitched a ride in a passing race vehicle, Sportsman Truck #1505, in an attempt to get to a nearby checkpoint. Shortly thereafter #1505 lost control while negotiating a steep incline and rolled over, off the steep hillside. Chris was thrown approximately 100 yards to the bottom of a ravine where he died instantly from blunt head trauma.
Chris had a genuine good 'ol boy Southern-hospitalilty personality, having spent much of his young life in Alabama. He embraced life and everything it had to offer. There will forever be a large hole in the lives of many people now that he is gone. Chris was loved by everyone he knew.
Chris enjoyed many, many outdoor activities. He was an integral part of a large group of friends that camp and ride throughout Southern California. Chris will always be remembered as an easy-going, fun-loving guy who was the life of any party. He was intelligent, funny, charming, and boisterous.
Chris was the CEO of Red Belly Racing, an upstart company recently founded by a small group of friends dedicated to off road motorsports and the family oriented lifestyle associated with it. Chris took on this challenge like any other, he jumped in with both feet and gave it 110%.
Above all else in Chris' life was his devotion to his family. Chris is survived by his lovely wife Megan, and his infant daughter Lauren who are in the greater San Diego area. Chris was an excellent father, the birth of his daughter being one of the highlights of his life. Megan always supported Chris in persuing his dreams. At one point during the Baja race Chris called her just tell her what an amazing time he was having.
A Wells Fargo bank account, and a PayPal email address link, has been established for the purposes of collecting donations to benefit his family. All existing Red Belly Racing clothing will be sold and/or auctioned off with ALL proceeds going directly into this account.
Please direct all donations to either of the following...

Please feel free to post memories, feelings, wishes, stories, or pics of Nibbles. I know there are volumes of them out there.

I just read the previous post. Tragic to lose a fellow off roader. My thoughts and prayers will be with his surviving family and friends.
