I heard about it on the radio and it seems interesting in traveling from the OC to LA and wanted some peoples input on it before I decide to buy or not.

I was looking a the new Alpine handheld GPS unit that had this type of services built in, it looked trick, and would be a time saver if you travel in crappy areas (like southern cal!!)and it is interfacable with alpine headunits.

That looks pretty cool. I don't know how many times I end up thinking one freeway will be better and end up taking the one with all the traffic. If you decide to get it, let us know how it is. ;)

I am floored that they spelled "Gauge" wrong on their website. That, or they got two websites knowing people don't know how to spell it...
The link you posted has the a and u mixed up.

Last years project was in Canoga Park (far end of San Feranado Valley) and I live in Whittier. Yes, I bought it and used it daily for a year. I based my route decisions on what the TrafficGuage displayed. I think I bought mine from Auto Club for about $35.00 and I think the service was something like $15.00 a month. Well worth the money if you're looking at an ugly commute.

Borderline humorously ironic that you misspelled "write" in there, don't you think? ;)

I would rather use http://www.sirius.com/traffic or http://www.xmradio.com/navtraffic/index.xmc
