Would these heads work on a blown 8lb 454ci motor. 8.00.1 8to 10 lbs intercooled boost. 218in to 230 exhaust 550 lift. Bravo 1 drive 1.5 ratio?

What brand heads are they?

I would look at 305cc to 325cc, 360 is waaay huge for a 454. 360cc would be good on a 700 lift 572ci (or bigger) motor. 305cc or 315cc AFR's or Canfields would be really nice on that motor.

Are they stock gm perf heads? Used?

I was looking at e-bay and they have pro comp 360cc aluminum heads real cheap. Also 320cc heads dirt cheap.

I heard those heads suck ass cast, but if they're ported they might be worth it. How much are they? Check out the gear head forums and they talk about them all the time... I'll try and find it for you

That item number didn't work, but if your set on buying some of these, I would get the 320's.

So they claim. That's a lot of flow, even for a blower motor at such a low lift. Just think of it this way, you get what you pay for. Several people on these forums have ran them Pro Comp heads and none of them are happy with them, or they don't flow what they claim. But for the right price I guess they're worth it

Are they better than the 088 square ports?

088's are decent heads, with some port work they may flow better with your small cam and the rpm's your turning. I think you wouldn't see any benefits from a 360 intake runner with your set-up. If they are alum however they will cool better and weigh less. I personally wouldn't change them. You will have to change your pushrods too. Do your 088's have the steel stamped rocker arms? I don't think it's as easy as swapping all your parts over. Your going to spend some more cash adapting your parts to the new heads and I doubt your pushrods will fit anymore.

Maybe i,ll keep what I have and get some exhaust work done. It,s just tempting for the price. Thank you for your input. Mike

Don't fix it until it's broke! Lol jk. Get some headers first off, and if the heads are off the engine have them sent out and ported, alot cheaper and will probably make a huge difference alone. You figure the average port job gets bout 30cfm, and some really good porters can get more. I've seen as much as 100hp gain from porting (with proper cam shaft of course).

It was just tempting. Machine work on my heads for bigger valves, porting etc. These are new castings already machined just add hardware. There,s also a set of 320 cc non cnc ported aluminum heads set up for 2.25 intake valves and 110 cc chambers pretty cheap also. 685.00 just add hardware. Item #140124721992 What do you think about these?

What you're going to spend on a set of heads to rig them is always expensive, or at least expensive to me.
valve job: $190
guides fitted to valves: $80
machine valve spring bosses:$36
surface heads:$85
Machine work: $400 just in labor.
Now add pushrods, springs, valves, valve keeps and retainers,
At least another $400 for good parts.
So at least $800 bucks just to set up those heads I'd figure.
Compared to spending $500 and having your heads ported, maybe get bigger valves maybe not.
What size valves are in your heads now?

And ps there's rearly "just add hardware", lots of valve stems are just a little off from others so there would still be work to be done.

I also already have the cam kit springs retainers locks etc. I was just thinking if I have to get new valves maybe I should just get a different set of heads thats already set up for bigger valves already. Just throwing around some ideas.

If you really want to do a head change I would agree with Sanger Rat and get the real stuff. But you can't take my advice, I've never dealt directly with the pro-comp heads. But I have worked with tons of heads and those cast iron heads are good castings. The right porter will massage those out real good, and might not even need to change your valves. Or you can just go with some Eldebrock heads for the best bang for the buck. If you really wanted to trick out a set of Cast Iron heads you could spend up to $1300(depending on the shop). And if you're going to upgrade your heads might as well get the right cam to suite the heads. I've never though there was a "budget way" to get horsepower out of just a head swap.
These guys do some good work

And I like the way you think, get some new valves just need some bitchin heads to go with them lol. Man I wish I had money like that to suit my "needs". And they're not set-up for bigger valves, they still need a bowl blend and valve job, they just have the appropriate sized seats. Whatever heads you do put those heads in you should have the valves back-cut, it's worth the CFM for the little money it cost.
