Does anybody here get paid$$$ to do poker runs, regatta's, races, meet and greet's. I work for a very large casino and I am doing research and trying to put together a propsal to the exec's. Any info would be great.

Not boating, but on the off roading side of motorsports.
People normally don't share much info about marketing proposals. send me a PM with your question and I will see what I can do to help.

It is all about exposure for the company.
I raced boats and jet skis for years and we had a consistent sponsor base that was extremely happy.
Poker runs should be the same as it is all about eyes that see your logo.

Would be happy to put a team together for you. Currently we run a 38 Donzi ZX. But never say never. Based out of Phoenix, Az.

So now I'm Jordy and not Captain Fantastic??? WTF happened there??? :D :D :D
We do have about 1/2 an acre of billboard space on the Guppy. I just kind of figured that I'd wait until we got the stripper pole fully installed before I talked to the Bourbon Street Resort about any type of sponsorship. :D

Sorry, the Donzi broke again. You didn't hear??? 42' Outerlimits GTX time. :D :D :D
I bet that 42' Eliminator with the Larry Smith bottom would be a fun poker run boat too though. Skater makes a really nice 39' V-bottom with big power and staggered 6's. I'll start looking now.
Come to think of it, there are some really nice 46' Cigs for sale right now, including Rum Runner. Great poker run boat there too. :D :D :D
Jordy <----full of great ideas today, and I haven't even talked to C yet. :D
p.s. Hell, I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier... when you're on the tour next week, see about getting one of the first 39' Patrons for a sponsorship poker run boat. :D :D :D

could i get some feed back on how much exposure to media someone could get. how many runs or races you could be in? print, tv, magazine? what would make it your time? what about OSS to be a main sponsor/ ie team CRC$$$?

IMHO, the poker run circuit would tend to be more of a recreational thing, which would receive a certain amount of press, but nothing like an offshore racing circuit would get. Then again, if you want to sponsor a competitive offshore racing team, you're looking at a bunch more 0's to the left of that decimal point than you would be if you were just talking about some weekend warriors hitting half a dozen big poker runs or so thoughout the year. ;)

For ten million per year, one year minimum I will get a 47 Outerlimits and have it in every major poker run with your Casino Logo all over it. (That would be at least 20 major events.) You would mostly get pics in print and of course, exposure all over the highway as we ran that bad boy all over the US. It would be available for any sponsored events you require it to be at. And any of your "whales" need a ride out on Lake Mead, or any of our events, we would handle it.
That includes Captain Fantastic, a crew of college going coeds, beer and wine, some food, transportaion, (also painted in Casino Logo to match boat). Essentially at your call.
PM me if you need a break out of costs.

It's essentially the same as they do in Washington..........Interns!!!!!!!
The try outs alone will be amazing!!! Jello shots, thongs, drink making, joke telling, hair toss, lingerie walk, etc. etc.
But seriously, I just did the math with my accountant in the office, my company can put it together and get you the cost breakout. Exposure is really a marketing thing we would need to talk about. What that is worth is going to require the Casino marketing people to see if it makes sense or not.
According to a brief meeting with Captain Fantastic, it makes sense to him! LOL

Dont forget Insurance and They will likely want to be named as additionally insured. You might need to insure that your captain wont damage any of the crew as well. :D
Oh yea don't forget the sponsor will want you to VIP there guests with acomidations at every one of the poker runs. I suggest you just buy a copter with a pilot and transport that as well.;)

The Ten Million covers everything. That was my first pass on paper. What I don't know is how much benefit a sponsor would receive. But my number is realistic in doing it right. I would do it through my recreational corporation that I own.
This is s serious offer. We'll see if they want to chat. I can make a trip to the Casino to work it out.

CRC is the company owned by the team owner/driver, who before he got into racing, just used to run fast DCB's....so I think it's done more for tax advantages. Real estate development doesn't really mesh with racing exposure, as opposed to Lucas/Red Line oil or any other motorsports type related entity.
You talk to guys lke Fred Inman, Teague....they have mostly redirected their sponsorship from racing to poker runs since offshore racing is not a spectator sport, no matter how they fantasize that it is.
While attendance numbers will not support sponsors such as Coca Cola, Disney etc., marine industry companies are willing to throw money at poker run sponsorships for name branding, and for straight sales of their products. Poker run participants are spenders, not spectators.

06-15-2007, 09:50 AM
thnx for the 411. where could i find resources/data on the networth and spending abilities of the people involved.

C-2
06-15-2007, 10:00 AM
Depends who you are loloking for info on, but mainly from the company itself, which they normally will not share. The marine industry is tough...they might have money today, but gome tomorrow. Bigger, non-marine companies set their marketing budgets 1-2 years in advance, which in the marine industry is not really practical. Keep in mind, everybdoy and their brother (and their brother, and their brother) approaches these companies with their hands out looking for sponsorships, so tenacity is a must. You almost have to get in to the "good ole bys club" to accomplish anything.
You gotta lot of rsearch ahead of you, start here:

Sponsor the television production and the "buy" time on air and direct your message and sponsorship dollars to the eyeballs of choice. The eyeballs that are already attending a race or poker run are already yours. What you need is to reach out to those that cannot or have not seen your message.

SW here,
This very true advice. When you watch outdoor channel coverage of the Parker 425 off road race the teams they focus on ,paid for that air time. I can not say that is true for the bigger stars of that sport but if you are seeing feature coverage of a Jeepspeed team. They paid for it.
Marketing Partnerships are a very difficult thing to pull off. Some end up costing you more then they are worth, most are back door deals, and tax shelters. The best form of sponsorship in racing is..." Honey I need some more money!":D
