I have a 93 Jeep Cherokee with a 4.0. I use it mainly for offroading and launching the boat. I have a 26ft. boat. It struggles a bit to tow but I don't go very far. Less than a mile to Launch. It works great and the parts are very cheap. My Cherokee has 183k miles on it. I think the boat on the trailer is around 6,000lbs. It work out good for you.

Launching should not be a problem, 4 wheel drive is easy to engage...

I am also looking at some V8 models in case I ever have to tow the boat with it, but that wont be its main purpose. I also want 4x4 in case I want to do some offroad shit once in a while, that is not important though.
