 Mrs Road Dog4040 has had recurring nightmares that this might happen someday.
This freighter ran aground and Missed his dock and house by about a football field.

It's in Michigan (upper I think) He e-mailed me these pictures a couple day ago. I'm not sure if it's fresh or salt water. I guess the only thing I know for sure is where his Havasu house is:D

Thanks for posting those Michele... They got the freighter pulled out backward and floated in down river twords my house then two tug boats turned it around in the river right in front of my dock about midnight. It was kool to see the bow of a seven hundred foot freighter about 50 feet or so off my dock. Seemed closer...:)
The river is the St Clair that connects lake Erie, Lake St Clair and Lake Huron togeather. About forth miles north east of Detroit. Fresh, clear COLD water... (65 degrees today)

He was probably on the phone arguing with the owner that it's no problem to have 4 beers ..and be perfectly safe for operating a boat:D :D

St. Clair River, flows from Lake Huron into Lake St. Clair to the Detroit Rvier to Lake Erie. Where I grew up boating:D
RoadDogg, glad to hear you were spared. Little bit bigger than the ice flows:)

I always wondered what Joe Hazelwood was doing these days.

:) No Hazelwood wasn't driving just a hydraulic steering failure. Appairently it happens more often than you might think.
Jerry... I will be back in Havasu the first part of September. See you guys then...
As far as the ice goes, I lost about 6x14 section of decking on the dock on the left in the picture and a bunch of pilings this winter. About $5,000 worth. Just what I wanted, spend money for stuff twice...:D

I used to keep a boat I had on the Rouge River (Dearborn Marina). When one of those guys came up the river to the Ford Rouge Plant, I could not pass them going the other way. They were damn near as wide as the river at that end!
