View Full Version : '74 VW Thing Offroad Car...

I've got a '74 Thing project recently completed. It's basically an all new or rebuilt car, but set up with some nice mid travel suspension. Here are some of the nice features on this car/buggy:
Fully caged bumper to bumper.
New Pro-Built 2176 with new Web 44 IDF Duals. Doghouse and remote oil coolers. Port matched heads/intakes. 10:1 compression.
002 Bus Trans.
2X3 rear arms with type 2 CV's and dual Fox shocks.
Polished Ultra Wheels with 7.00X15 front and 31X10.50 rears (all new). Two new spare 7.00 X 15 fronts on polished front Ultras...
Custom roof rack and Dzus'd aluminum roof panel on cage (removeable).
Baja Designs HID lights on rack, Piaa's on bumper.
Beard buckets with 36" bench in back.
Lowrance color plotter GPS, PCI race radio & 4link intercom (4 headsets).
Howe Power Steering.
Saco Rack.
Momo wheel, Sweet steering disconnect.
Jamar shifter.
CNC hanging pedals with new CNC reservoirs.
CNC hydraulic clutch.
Pro-Am front disc brakes.
Custom 3" stretched and 6" widened tubed front end - Link pin beam with Foddrill 2.5" over front arms, Fox coilovers.
Custom fuel cell.
Have rear Jamar disc brakes to go with car.
Fiberglass prerunner fenders.
Street legal (current reg) and smog exempt.

Thanks guys. There are five of us that all built things up for the dez. Four have the time to play with them, and mine just sits in the garage... Also have a real nice BigTex 20' bobtail deck 7K car trailer with electric brakes available if needed...

Very nice car.Im actually looking for a VW Thing right now but thats a little more than I need.Very nicely done car though....Somebody will be getting a clean car.

Canyon Lake. I'll call him and find out for sure. He's got my old cut and turned beam, cage, seats etc. He's a FF so he may be at work. Might take a couple days... :)

Loved the car, it is definately an awesome build, top notch all the way, just didn't fit my needs. I'm sure this car will make someone very happy. :rollside:
