We decided to go out today and check the lake out. It's the highest it's been since 91 when we had a bad flood then. I grabbed my old "rescue boat" and put in by a bridge on the river since all the parks and ramps are closed... This is my "free ramp" where we put in. We headed out and picked up a couple of my friends along the way...:D

We headed up the river to an old bridge that people fish off of. It's on the other side of the concrete bridge, and backed up with trash. Gonna be a mess when it goes down...

We headed on up the river farther, and my trusty old rescue boat started knocking and making a horrific sound... and locked up. We were stranded! No tools, no nothing but a pocket knife... One of my friends decided we would try and turn the flywheel counter clockwise to try and bump it over and free it up because we decided a rod had come loose. After about a dozen times going back and forth, we broke the fukkin' rod and we was back running on three cylinders... briefly. This thing was making all kind of racket and all the sudden metal and aluminum went flying everywhere! We chunked the rod out the side of the block, broke the fuel pump, and split a hose when the rod came through... miles from the truck and trailer still... Now the knife came in handy... We cut the fuel line and ran it direct to the carb, had someone priming the bulb since we no longer had a functioning pump, and lo and behold, this bitch fired up again... heading back with a thrown rod, a hole in the side of the block, and still running... then it broke out again, busted the bottom carb and pouring gas everywhere... We tied off that line, fired it up again, and limped back to the trailer.... what an ordeal! This is a pic, while the motor was running... notice the hole in the block and the intake busted out... Old Evinrudes never die!:D :jawdrop:

I have a friend that lives in Lago Vista near the marina... we had to call off our river run this weekend, but Travis can hold a lot of water. We've backed our boats in there before on roads leading down toward launch ramps. Last year and thru the first few months this year, there wasn't enough water, and now this...http://www.***boat.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

I don't know if you spent much time up the North Bosque, but this is the old Eichelberger Bridge next to the newer concrete one that people go and fish off of. This was Memorial Weekend before the lake and river started going back down...

This was it yesterday... This bridge is usually about 15 ft or more above the water... There is about a quarter mile of trees, logs, and debris that will be headed to the lake once the level goes back down again...

Arcadia Lake
Arcadia is almost 12 feet above normal elevation.
Edmond city officials have announced complete closure of the recreation facilities at Arcadia Lake.
Most recreational facilities are currently under water, including the equestrian trail, bike trail, beaches, boat ramps, covered fishing dock, and courtesy docks.
Canton Lake
Sandy Cove Beach and the day use area are closed.
The Sandy Cove Campground has campsites affected and has been put on a reservation closure with NRRS until further notice. Campground will be closed to public access by Sunday afternoon.
Longdale Campground has 41 campsites affected and the sites are closed.
Canadian and Big Bend Campground have only a few sites affected by the rising elevation.
Two boat ramps that are now closed are located at Longdale Campground and Canadian Day Use. The remaining 5 ramps around the lake are being highly affected and we estimate that with the continuing rise of the lake level they may also be closed in the near future.
Copan Lake
Copan Point closed. All campgrounds open. (30 sites closed)
Eufaula Lake
Brooken Cove campground is closed. All other parks have numerous sites and loops closed.
All sites still available for camping are occupied through the holiday.
Fort Gibson Lake
Damsite - will remain open unless downstream releases reach or exceed +/- 60,000 cfs.
Wildwood - will be closed.
Taylor Ferry South - approximately 75% of the campsites will be closed due to high water or electricity shut down, some park roadways closed
BlueBill - 100% of the park will be closed
Rocky Point - approx 65% of the campsites will be closed due to high water or electricity shut down, some park roadways closed
Flat Rock - approx 50% of the campsites will be closed due to high water or electricity shut down, some park roadways closed
Wahoo Bay - 100% of the park will be closed.
Most primitive access points will be 100% closed.
Taylor Ferry North Beach and Rocky Point Beach will be 100% closed.
All Corps of Engineers maintained boat ramps will be 100% closed.
State Park Ramps will most likely be 100% closed as well but campers may contact them directly for confirmation. Sequoyah State Park (Western Hills) at 918-772-2046 or Sequoyah Bay State Park at 918-683-0878.
State Highway 80 from city of Hulbert to Ft Gibson Dam will be closed to through traffic.
Various county (gravel) roads around the lake will be closed to through traffic
Heyburn Lake
Sunset Bay Recreation Area is closed.
All swimming beaches are closed.
Heyburn Park and Sheppard Point have partial closures to recreation features such as access roads, campsites, and boat ramps.
Visitors should be aware that considerable amounts of drift and debris are being left behind as the lake retreats.
Kaw Lake
All parks are closed except Sandy Park below the dam.
Keystone Lake
All recreation areas and access points have been closed. This includes swimming beaches, boat ramps, campsites, etc.
Washington Irving is still open for limited recreational use (no camping vacancies).
Brush Creek campground below the dam is still open (no camping vacancies).
Appalachia Bay ORV/ATV area is now closed.
Whitewater Park below the dam remains open for ORV/ATV use. Availability of this area could change depending on future water releases from the dam. Considerable amounts of drift and debris are coming into the lake from the major river systems.
Boating is discouraged.
Water release from the Keystone Dam is currently 65,000 cfs. Obviously, this could change at anytime. We are encouraging visitors to exercise caution while recreating both on the lake and below the dam.

Hey Ratso:
I saw on the news last night that Lake Waco is almost 21 feet over normal level!!!
I've lived here since 1973 and have never seen the water that high!
Hope we get a little relief above us on Whitney and Grandbury because we have a race on the Brazos Labor Day weekend.

We're almost where we were at in 91, but back then it flooded... we let it out, and things were fine. Now everytime we turn around there is a flash flood or more rain... just not enough relief and the level keeps coming up instead of going down. It's gonna be a real mess with the marinas if this keeps up much longer!:(
I believe the Corp has banned boats from launching now also, so my boat business will be feeling it next. We're keeping busy at the moment, but normally we're a couple months behind right now.
