I just rolled in from a week in Havasu and thought i would do another post like the one trash left behind on the Havasu beaches.
I had time this trip to just re-explore the coves and beaches and was surprised at all the junk on the bottom of the lake.
Old boat trailers, ramps, wood type jump ramps, engine blocks, stuff so large i couldnÂ’t recognize it.
You canÂ’t miss seeing this crap, just cross Windsor to the south on the California side.
This along with the sediment of another HBers post with trash ppl leave behind just makes me want to hunt these asswipes down and follow them home and have them watch me as I take a crap in there personal swimming pools.
As the years go bye will Lake Havasu be polluted?
My mother read in the Herald that the BLM or some other type organization required that the beaches have porta-potties every so many miles, this is a start but I didnÂ’t see any.
Maybe we HBer could dedicate a day to remove all the crap these asswipes drop in/on “our lake” Yes “our” those who love and appreciate/respect it. Not come here, get drunk shit and leave.
I’ll be in Havasu from the July 10th to July 20th you can’t miss me I’ll be the one picking up trash in one of two boats “Running Bear” and/or my Yellow 21’ Hondo soon to be named “Running Bear too”
Sorry about the rant, just love Havasu and it really makes me sick to see the lake turn in to south central LA
Here are a few pics of my boat and kids on the lake this last week

it's a shame to see all the garbage. I pick up every time I go out.
I like to snorkle in the coves and you see so much at the bottom.
I think if we all pull together we can make a difference:idea:

Did you happen to find the WW2 plane down there? I think it's a bit north of the Casino on the California side.

The spot where we boat and hang out is kept clean by confronting peeps that obviously have no intention of taking their trash with them Rarely will they object. Even the drunks. We'll give them a trash bag if they don't have one Everyone knows it's wrong to litter/dump etc.and won't do it if they know they are being watched.

Seems like the boat cops at Havasu DO have something better to do than write "noise" and "topless" tickets.......I know I would rather suffer through seeing a few topless women, than seeing a pile of trash, anyday.......So, how about a campaign to have the city council switch the priorities of the cops to trash patrol, instead of pastie patrols.........More money to be made from littering tickets???? Topless girls don't polute the lake, trash does.......MP

I haven't been to Havasu yet and wil not toss garbage anywhere. I also usually pick up much more than I bring.
Not to detract from your message but, why don't you name your second boat "Little White Dove". From the song "Running Bear".

Trash in..trash out..its simple.
When you launch you are issued two trash bags, when you come back in and before you leave the launch area you must show the two bags full of trash or pay a hefty fine that will go toward the future cleaning up of trash.
Why two bags, one for your trash and one for picking up shit left on the beaches....
This would go over like a fart in church with some of the big ballers, I can hear it now.."I'm not gonna put someone else's trash in my boat!!!!"

There are two or three guys who collect cans and bottles along the channel during the day. They do this to help support themselves. If you have cans or plastic bottles on your boat, give it to them. Also be nice enough and give them a soda or something. They are doing everybody a favor by keeping the channel clean.

You cant watch everybody....and there are alot of people who simply dont care.
Our local lake has its share of slobs as well.......Every year there is a big lake clean up day on a Saturday....show up with a boat....or on foot..everyone goes around with supplied trash bags picking stuff up..4many folks get involved...the community makes a big deal out of it...you get a t shirt....and a really nice BBQ lunch ......and a spotless lake is left behind....You would be surprised how many people would take part!

As Lake Mead shrinks, you should see what shows up around the marinas as they move them out into deeper water. Its really a shame what people will dump and they've been doing it since the beginning of the lake...

I stopped and talked to these guys last weekend, They make 3-400 dollars a week on the cans.....not bad. We gave them a soda and our trash bag (full of cans)....cool peeps.....

Every time we go to Parker I end up picking up dozens of beer cans at the sandbar. Sucks to jump out of your boat and land on someones trash left behind!!

I was talking to someone the other day and they told me that the original riverboat that they used when the bridge was built was a bit too big so they sunk it somewhere in the lake.

The underwater town may be a myth.;)
.
Another thing to consider, and its fooled me a few times too, is that they build those creapy fish habitats from PVC, rubber blades that look like props, old tires to weight them down, plastic netting and a host of other odd materials....could appear to be submerged trash sometimes. One time I swore there was and old car under us but it ended up being a fish habitat with 4 tires attached for weight...
Hate them things, they're creapy to swim by:eek: :D
.
Other than that, pack it in-pack it and a some extra out, that's our motto.

I was talking to someone the other day and they told me that the original riverboat that they used when the bridge was built was a bit too big so they sunk it somewhere in the lake.
"Miller's Folly" was a sternwheeler party boat built by locals in the early days of the city. It eventually fell into disrepair and was too big to drag out of the lake, so someone sunk it by blasting its 55-gallon drums full of holes using a 12-guage. It's still out there in about 30' of water.
This is from Havasupages.com :
Prior to the lake being formed there were a couple of towns that dotted the rivers edge that served mostly miners. Liverpool Landing, which is closer to Lake Havasu City, is actually under water, and a few of the buildings are still intact and visited by recreational divers. There is also Aubrey Landing, which was only a post office at the southern end located at the Bill Williams River, also under water.
Divers claim there are all kinds of relics such as a few shipwrecks, relics of mining camps like wagon wheels, picks, and carts still strewn about. And there are rumors of a downed World War II P-40 fighter and a few farmhouses that some people are still looking for.

The bridge was built on mounds of sand. And dredged later. ;)
