I am having a problem with our creapy crawly. The hose connects to a port inside the pool on the side wall and the first section of hose collapses on itself. The hose is new and the vacuum has been reduced to the pressure the previous owner told us to operate it at. All the pool equipment was gone through when we moved in by a pool/spa tech that I trust and no problems were found. The DE grids are new and there are no other problems with the pool or jacuzzi. Any ideas? Thanks.

Try removing the first section and see what the result is. If it does it again, then try running the crawly off of one section of hose only and see if you get the same result. If the crawly isn't sucking properly, then this will cause the hose to collapse.

sounds like the pool pressure is still too high.

Maybe there is something stuck in the Kreepy Crawler??? I would think the pressure would shoot up if thatwere the case though.

Also try increasing the suction to the skimmer. That's what I had to do to get the right suction amount for pool cleaner (G4).

I will try the hose theory in the morning when I get home. There is nothing stuck in the crawly because I looked already. The crawly works even when the hose collapses you just hear the pump cavitating. Our pump is a Pentair 2HP. The pool equipment is 4 years old and in very good condition. When we moved in we changed all the gaskets when changing from DE to Aquaperl. I am wondering if there is maybe a better hose than what Leslie's sells. The hose I bought is just like the old hose that was there and $12.00 per 4 foot section.

Oh yea, suction.
I 've had these things for years. We just had one do the same thing. Switched it out and all is fine. The hose may look ifne but they get weak after time, and not long in this sun. If that fails, find an Asian chick, you know what I'm talking about.:D :D :D

TCN, The most common problem with hose collapse is "TOO MUCH SUCTION". The Kreepy Krauly is designed to run on 3 to 5 inches of suction. Hose collapse is most common with old hose (over 5 years ). Your pool system most likely has a dedicated pool sweep line 18" below the water line, this line will have a valve located on the suction side of the pump. This valve needs to be opened more for "skimmer suction" and closed more for the pool sweep. If the problem still exists then replace all the hose with original " KREEPY KRAULY " hose.If I can be of any other assistance my # is (714) 469-9835, AQUA-HOLICS POOL CONSTRUCTION........RAY.

boatnam2, get a part # and I can get you a price, as far as the pool sweep goes the Kreepy Krauly has the fewest moving parts ( I install one on all my new pools ) , runs about the same price as other sweeps and you can get them cheaper on line than I can from my supplier. Hope this helps you out!..RAY.

TCN, the hose comes in 4' sections or a box of 10 for a total of 40', first look on line, secound most pool stores carry them, if both of those fail call me and I will see what it will cost from my supplier.....RAY.

Nick it sounds like you have the right advice there. The suction is too high for the volume the hose can allow through. 2 HP is a badass pump, may be more than you need....
It also occurred to me that if your hose is collapsing, you might need some Viagra... :D
