A friend purchased a pair of valve covers in May
that are powder coated a red color, well things
got busy and he just got around to working on his boat.
The valve covers have what looks to be a dirty area
showing thru the color, almost like a marbling effect.
Is this normal? cuz it looks bad.

I've been meaning to put a call into the guy who cast these parts, I've seen that marbling look, we actually powdercoated a set of blue the other day with the same results. I took another set of polished off the shelf, and it is very noticable in the polishing. I took that set to my polisher to see if we could buff it out, and it was a no-go. We ended up two staging the blue ones. I'll call him in the morning and get you a better answer. I've never seen it before. It's almost as if the aluminum casting has some defective material or something.

I have a full HOST of Dana parts on my boat. DANA HYDRAULIC HINGES are the coolest!! Don't anyone else buy them so I have the coolest hatch on the water.:D Ok now. My swim steps need to be re-powder coated. What is the normal warranty and how much will you charge me to re coat them? How long would it take? Where would you recomend me take them for this process? Thanks a million.
