dropped the hammer on ? Rifle make &
How was the recoil ???
Got my American Hunter Magazine in today ( unlike ***boat :D ) and there is this chick thats only 5' something and probably 125# soakin'wet that shoots a .470 Nitro Express Double  routinely and is stepping up to a .500 Gibbs. she says the recoil is not bad with the .470 and LOVES to shoot as often as possible ....
I guess the largest I've shot is a 7Mag. 180gr. and I'm 6'1" 165#
wasn't bad , a buddy said it's probably close in recoil to his 300HH ?
so what's the verdict out there ...Thinking about the new Ruger .375 but it's probably way more gun and recoil for whitetail ...I use a 6mm now.

I had a Ruger #1 in .468 mag for about a week. It felt like someone hitting you in the shoulder with a sledgehammer. I shot a .338 win mag a while back and it kicked pretty hard too. I do most of my hunting with a light weight 30 06, but I really like the new 325 short mag as a good all around biggame caliber. Heavy enough for elk, but still has the ballistics for long range shooting like sonoran whitetails or sheep.

600 NE...once and only once.
I think it would hurt less if you give the gun to the aminal you want to shoot and have them shoot you.

I shot John Hughes' new Barrett 50 and talk about some noise! The recoil was very mild but it made the ground shake! Nice gun. My 11 year old son
shot it also.

.50 BMG offhand, recoil was definately there, but the blast concussion felt like I got punched in the nose. Not quite as intense but similar.

45-70 loaded up for my Ruger #1 Sighting it in was brutal on the bench, but I don't remember any recoil when I got my trophy buck with it. Adrenalin will do that. The deer dropped dead without spitting out the grass he just pulled up.

My father and I used a 7MM and a 378 Weatherby for all this. Nothing larger. Not shown the other way are more animals including a Black Rhino, Hippo, Elan, and Walrus.

Holy crap. It looks like Africa exploded in your living room.
Too funny. There were 2 more rooms too. Believe it or not we used to have Schools do field trips to our home. All back in the day when a hunter was not the devil.
Even I don't trophy hunt any more, just a few gambles quail for dinner each fall. Look for our tusks in the new Reno Cabelas and Iowa Cabelas at the entrance to the gun library dept

We had quite a pile of jerky by the end of the hunt :D but that was over 2 months in the back country with 4 natives as helpers. We ate pretty good when it came to meat. Not so good in the other depts :D

.50 calibre, smoke-pole variety (front-loader charcoal burner), 395 grain jacketed hollow point. You do know you just lit the fire behind something. Likely double the recoil of my .308 BAR.
The nitro express rounds have one place of use, Africa.
MAYBE Brown bear in the NW. (BTW, a Grizzly, is a coastal Brown Bear, same DNA).
Big Browns/Grizzlies, are best dealt with using a rocket launcher. :D

I have shot a 375 H&H and the recoil was brutal. We were just target shooting, but if you were within 15' of the gun while being fired, and were not atleast 6' behind parralell to the barrel it hit you like a fist in the chest.
Fun gun though.... Put a hole through a 36" concrete steak the size of a quarter.

XTRM22, what's a 468 mag?
Hundgun wise, about 75->100,000 rds of 44 mag(40 years worth). That's why my favorite word is "HUH".
Rio
Hmmm, 468? that must be a .454 casul bored .60 over? Sorry rio I meant .458 win mag. I think this guy on the gun show circuit would sell this rifle to idiots like me and buy it back at the next show. I bought it for 450.00 and sold it back for 350.00 and thought I got a good deal! As far as handgun hunting I love my .41 mags ( yes .41 mag no crack pipe this time). Since a few people brought up the big guns, here's me with a friends previously mentioned Barret .50http://i85.photobucket.com/albums/k49/XTRM22/CFwithBarrett.jpg
