What a beautiful day... Here are some updated pictures of the completed Revolution today. There are a bunch more on our gallery page at the website...

For the first time I really had a sense of completion today. Everything is just amazing on this boat. Above having a new company with a world of potential that will provide me opportunity to within my dream scenario, I finally have built my dream boat...

I am so proud of everyone who took a part in building this thing... big or small. The achievement is something to truly marvel in retrospect. This whole thing is literally from scratch. Damn near every piece was a custom tooling project or billet project, and the boat is just a total hot rod performance-wise.
Here is a pic of a seriously aggressive bucket turn. Can't do this with a prop...

A couple of things Wes, it's a love it or hate it boat.....not sure if there is an in between on this one...make sure the love part happens fast. Second...went through your whole site, not one pic of the drive system...not that I could see....that is important to me, I wanna see what makes it go. You have a fairly radical design, in some aspects, a normal on in others. I like the colors, they came out very nice, and the design of it is very functional. As rule, I do not like deck boats, eliminator, conquest, hallett, I don't care....i hate the idea of no protection up near the bow from anything, a boat coming at you, to a kid getting too close....you have put a gate there, that helps....while I myself do not see myself ever being in the market for a deckboat, I think your design is new enough and interesting enough that I will recommend you to anyone wanting info on a deckboat....until then, congrats on a new boat, I look forward to seeing you out there...<not that you will be hard to miss> also, post some picks of the ass end of the thing please???

Maked ( yes that's my word and if you splash it your fukked) your decision to "upgrade" the industry standard...with much 'oneupmanship"( I'm currentley having that word copywrited :D ) Your dedication has created an unparralelled piece of equipment! KUDOS to you, your design crew, Audrey and the rest of your whole Fam Damily..for the end reullt!
P.S. Do you have plans for the heater in the Canadian version or are you just sending "mega clothing"??" :D

Alright here I go being a dick again.. (Making more work for ya.. LOL)
The Driver and passenger seat (side by side). The fiberglass seat itself needs to be matched to the boat. The white looks out of place to me. Secondly the all white engine hatch needs to have some sort of graphic on it, or atleast something on it becuase it again looks a little out of place. Everything flows so smoothly with the color combination choice, those two things look like an after thought. (Incidentally, I would've probably gel'd the Sub enclosure as well.. but it's not that far outta whack since grey kind of goes with the seats)
We already had our conversation on the ramp. ;) Needs a little something something on the front side of it to just kind of "break up" the big flat section. Some docking lights would be cool for sure. Especially when the ramp was down and the lights would shine down into the water at night.. Help to see shallow spots (I'm aware of the jet aspect), or a beach your pulling up to? Had a problem going to the sandbar at night once.. ;) (I'll tell ya the story later)
Incidentally, I like the new speaker "buckets" (for lack of a better word) for the front speakers! Came out sweet!

I alway think the same thing about the front of deck boats. seems like if you let off the gas quick or stuff a wave all your $hit including coolers and kids would go right out the front. And then get promply ran over. But this one is the only one that seems to solve that problem. Look at the action shot with the ramp up. Looks like more protection then a gate to me.

Thanks for all of the words of encouragement. We are stoked beyond belief right now.
Dave... I will paint your seats whatever color you want... how's that.
This boat isn't for everyone. If you want embroidery on your seatbacks telling the model name, or crappy "matched" graphics going over the sundeck or the name of the company everywhere it will fit... you are not going to dig what we have built.
Short of this boat, which is our show boat, image vehicle and mine, there won't be any big Trident stickers anywhere... There are a couple of badges on the boat, and one spot of embroidery in the boat. That is it. You know what you bought, enjoy the view.
As for color matched sun decks... colors are hot. Light grays are not. I have burned my ass so many times on "graphics" that I swore none were going in the upholstery. The first seat (if you look back in older pictures... like at the river with the TV show) was color matched. Looked stupid. It didn't look like an interior piece.
I have a theory that if you aren't highlighting it... subdue it. It is just a seat. You have to sit on it and colors get very hot. As such... the seat is white. Same with the speaker box. That is where you sit. No colors there.
These are easy options for folks though. You want a color matched seat? We just use that gelcoat when we make it. We have to make a decision with every single piece of fiberglass in the boat. It is just as easy to pull yellow off the shelf as it is white.
This is the Revolution... There are color changes we can make, but that is the ramp, and that is the drive, that is the stereo and that is the motor. We are extremely proud of the choices we have made in coming up with this system, and have spent a terribly large amount of time choosing each component especially for its job. Each component is the best in the industry, and most were built especially for this particular boat. I hope you all like it. We do!
Thanks again everyone... Here is another favorite shot from yesterday...

Okay, I had some questions and thoughts as well. The most obvious thing is the height of the boat. More specifically, I thought for a boat this size the driver and passengers would sit deeper down in the boat for protection. Maybe it's just the pictures, I don't know.
I like the layout of the interior but I'm not quite on board with some of the aesthetics. The placement and appearance of the subwoofer arrangement was a big disappointment to me. It definitely looks cobbled together and seems out of place with so many of the other details that "flow" with the design. I know the stereo is a big part of the boat, but I expected a more subtle/hidden approach to the placement of the speakers.
I'm not hating like others, just offering what every company loves to hear: Feedback. Any successful custom boat company must tackle the challenge of introducing exciting features into the design of their boats in a way that makes them appear "stock"....

Interesting... the boat is deeper than anything we used as a reference while designing. Must be pictures. It certainly feels deep on the inside of the boat...
Subwoofer was a gamble. We had them located under the right gunwale behind the seats. Everyone complained that you couldn't see them. So, we moved them. I think this comes under the heading of... we listened, and still didn't please everyone. The folks who are purchasing this boat love the location. Everyone who has been in it has loved it. Being out in the open has another real benefit in that it doesn't rattle the boat to pieces. All of that cone movement was shaking the hell out of the boat when concealed. This sounds much more solid, and is much louder. With the cushions installed (still working on them...) it will be well protected and very impactful visually. And in defense of the aesthetics... I love it. We managed to fit four subwoofers in a 48" wide space while meeting our depth requirements and protecting the subs. I couldn't be more pleased with the way they turned out. The stereo itself is well balanced and phenomenal, due in large part to the central location of the subs. It sounded like there was a Dave Matthews concert on the beach yesterday while we were taking the pics.
Regarding the "stock" observation however. As I have said before, "stock" is relative. We didn't want to approach anything with an industry mindset, as I feel for the most part that this industry has stagnated, homogenized and gotten fat dumb and happy. With exception of wonderful power options now available, these boats are really similar to what was being built in the early 90's, in nearly every single way. Ours doesn't look stock. Not like any stock boat you have seen anyway. It does look like a stock Trident though, which strangely enough is similar to a lot of other companies highest effort show boats.
If you are interested in Chapparals, Ebbtides, Ultras, Eliminators, Shockwaves, DCB's or Advantages... your tastes are well attended to already. No need to build what is already out there. We took a different path, and while we know it is neither mainstream or conservative, we do know that nobody is building anything higher quality.
Love it or hate it. We were told at a very early point in our development that our boat was drawing a line off to the side of the industry. If you liked what was on our side, it is just not answered on the other side of the line. There is only one place to get this kind of boat, and we are it.
Every serious buyer has loved it. That is enough for me. We are currently choosing colors on #4 as a result. It looks like there will be enough people that want our gel design, our motor package and our drive. Once they are on the water, I am positive that the innovation, advancements and performance of the Revolution will do all of the work we need it to.
Until then, thanks for the input. Most of these questions were decided on at some level, and we collectively agreed that this was our course. We love that people care enough to make suggestions, and we have taken advice over the last four years that has led to the boat being what it is today. We love the suggestions, and keep them coming... We love it!
As for pictures of the drive, there are a couple of shots here in the newsletter from the maiden voyage...

I got a feeling everyone would like the ramp feature so much better if the down position revealed not only the dual speakers, but DUAL 50 cals, think about it, concealed rifle barrels? How sweet would that be?
The whole nine yards too, magazines under the seats, shell ejection out the gunnels, maybe even a setup similar to the A-10 tank killer. SWEEEETTTT!!!!
Aw man, I think I am onto something.
Roll up to Riverdaves pad, or any other naysayer out on the water, lay down the sweet ramp, put down some serious armor peircing rounds.
I already got the box checked, and I'll wait for my order.

Well that's not going to be good enough. I want you to paint YOUR seats whatever color I tell you too. After all this is ***boat. :D
This boat isn't for everyone. If you want embroidery on your seatbacks telling the model name, or crappy "matched" graphics going over the sundeck or the name of the company everywhere it will fit... you are not going to dig what we have built.
Well I disagree with that.. I don't think that a matched graphic is "crappy." Again though I don't think that having it on there, or not is going to sway my overall opinion of the boat either. Just a matter of "personal" taste. As you pointed out though this is your boat, so you damn well should built it however you wanted it. My opinion means exactly bubcus until I lay money down to purchase one.
I have a theory that if you aren't highlighting it... subdue it. It is just a seat. You have to sit on it and colors get very hot. As such... the seat is white. Same with the speaker box. That is where you sit. No colors there.
Again I wasn't refering to the actual color of the interior.. Just the large fiberglass peace that the interior mounts too. I like the material color and choice. Stuff feels like something out of an exotic sports car.
These are easy options for folks though. You want a color matched seat? We just use that gelcoat when we make it. We have to make a decision with every single piece of fiberglass in the boat. It is just as easy to pull yellow off the shelf as it is white.
Well Negro, that's all you had to say. (Movie?)
This is the Revolution... There are color changes we can make, but that is the ramp, and that is the drive, that is the stereo and that is the motor. I do like it, and again I'm curious to actually get in it out on the water and see how it runs, and how the Hydro design actually works. One thing I did notice on all the pictures you have posted, is that it does look to be leaning to the inside. Even on the bucket turn picture.

Dave,
I think everyone is pretty happy to see the boat finished... me included, and in an otherwise supportive thread you appear to be nitpicking.
It does take a lot of work to get to this point... the second boat will be a result of over 368,000 documented lessons learned. It is already in production, as is number three. My clients will have opportunity to address any shortcomings they see in the boat during evaluation and purchase, and have chosen to thus far. We are in the selling boats phase of the operation now, and it has been a long time coming. With any luck, you will see three or more Revolutions in the channel this Memorial day weekend. Which will be nice. ;)
Thanks again to everyone except Jordy for all of the words of encouragment and constructive criticism...

Call me naive, but what's a bucket turn??
A "bucket turn" is a term used to describe a high performance turn in a jetboat. You initiate your turn in full forward, driving along normally. Once your boat has taken its set in the turn and begun rolling in, you apply power, forcing the back end around the front while at the same time reversing direction and dropping your reverse gates (otherwise known as "buckets"). This not only reduces speed dramatically through the turn, but also forces the back end of the boat even further around so you can actually swing around the boats axis if done right. You need a really stable craft, with a ton of power to blow the back end around once the turn starts.
The effect is, you end up basically stopped and facing the opposite direction nearly immediately. I picked up the maneuver, and the term incidentally while down in Stennis, Mississippi working with the Naval Special Warfare Special Boat unit detatchment. They had 11 meter RHIB's we were doing it with and practicing over and over again. It allows you to reverse direction on an enemy that may be following you, set them up and throw an ambush far quicker than they might have imagined possible.
For our purposes... it is awesome for pictures, drawing correlations between the company that we have built and our time in Naval Service and chicks dig whitewater... ;)
Joking aside, the ability to do a turn like this adds one more measure of safety to the Revolution. It is not an everyday maneuver, nor one I would try in the middle of the Parker strip on a holiday weekend, but it is just one more thing in the bag of tricks.
I have never done it in a boat of this type. There are no big tunnel jetboats, so the first couple times were very carefully executed. Once I gained some confidence however, I got the thing hammering around flawlessly.
Top speed slalom turns were awesome too. We will be posting some video here shortly on the website of both the bucket turns and the slalom through some buoys.
Good question...

#23,685: When you are rigging the 28 terminal Deutch connector, build yourself a jig to determine wire length prior to cutting the first wire. Failure to do so will cause you to have to cut all of your ends off, shorten the wiring harness end by 1/2" and throw away 28 connectors at $.80 per. Additional time lost can be in the hours.
#348,567: Even if you are committed to not having your scuppers dump into the bilge, but don't know how you are going to get your drainwater overboard just yet, you need to add some means of dewatering a fully lined boat before you take it out in 4' seas off of San Diego.
The last one was a good one... Ankle deep in water with a potential investor on board... Ooops.
