Im want to buy a new gun but dont know if a 300 win mag or a 30-06 is the one what do all think:idea:

I own a 300 win mag and it can kick hard.Havent got to hunt yet but will someday.I also reload my ammo so it saves me alot of money that also made me go with the 300 over the 30'06 cause i can load a round to my specs can slow a bullet down to 30'06 ballistics or keep it at 300 mag ballistics.The 300wsm wasnt out yet or that could have been an option for me.was also strongly considering a .308 too.
What are your plans for the gun?hunt or target shoot?
.308 is a good option as well as the 300wsm if you want the magnum.
Heres my sig has interchangible barrel options as well.

So much depends on what you want to do with it, but for an all around gun the -06 is hard to beat for availability of guns/ammo and all around good ballistics.

I like the 270 as a all around gun, 308 is also a good round. The 300 Win mag is a monster, But alot of people find the recoil too violent. In a more modern target gun with a heavy barrel, muzzel brake, and bi pod it may be more controlled.
Agian it all comes down to what you intend to do with the gun.

If you are going to deer hunt, the 06 is better. the 300 is over kill. (no pun intended). Elk hunting is a different story. The 06 is still more than adequate. But the 300 has that better knock down. I prefer the 270 myself. So my son and three of my four daughters and I shoot 270s.

i have 30/06 love it, light and good shootn ,stots are cheep,good all around gun,i'm no big hunter and don't know that much about guns but i like the.06;)
