You just got that truck right? The mileage only gets better with the more miles you put on it. The sweet spot is about 2000 rpm's. Tow something heavy with it to help break it in. I just got 17.5 mpg hald calc'd on a trip from phx to oklahoma city running 75-80 mph in a 1 ton dually auto 4x4 with 4.10 gears which is supposed to be the worst possible combo for mileage. Im pretty happy with it.Gotta love the cummins.

Dont be mad cause you only have a 29 gallon tank and mine is like 34. I went 500 miles and it only took 30 gallons to fill up so I had some more miles to get out of her. :p

Just drove back from Mexico in my Hemi Dodge Mega Cab and got 14.3 MPG (trucks computer). We cruised at 75-80 MPH. Not worth the money for the diesel at that mileage.
It's when I use it in the City and get 11.5 -12 MPG! :220v:
Nice Truck.

Hemi wasnt an option with its 7200lbs towing compacity that is one of the weakest out there in a half ton. Besides I got almost 17mpg driving 75 to 85 and diesels get better the more they get broke in. Not having to stop at a gas station the whole way home is worth the money of a diesel to me. :)

So proud ya gotta bump it. :p ......Thats good mileage for sure.
My house to house trip one way is 281 miles.....without too much issue I can fill up and make it there and back on one tank....this includes alot of on/off throttle up, over and thru the mountains and curves, not just cruise control on the freeway. Filling up after that trip usually is no more than 34-35gal..........
Sorry its a 7.3PSD Ford. :) F350/crew/4x4/35's
Back and forth to work daily and to the golf course on weekends the tank will last me a month...
For a big truck I will never retreat to gasoline engine again.

I really liked the Mega Cab I saw at the LA Boat Show! BUT it was almost 17K more than my Dmax. That kinda $$ goes a long way with only 17.8mpg for the Dmax :argue: :)

17k more then a duramax I dont know where you been looking when I bought my 04 duramax it was stickered at 48k my sticker on my 06 Dodge was 45k I realize my Dmax was loaded and my dodge was only a SLT but I dont see 17k. As soon as this thing gets broke in after 10,000 miles I should really be able to go places :)

Rob,, now you should go over to KSH Marine next time you are in Havasu,, check out their Tool Box/ Fuel tank combos... I put one in the back of my 05 F-350... Adds an additional 60 gallons to your capacity and can be plumbed directly into the system. With the 38 gallons in the main and with this,, My range is over 1500 miles between fill ups. Another perk is that you can fill up at the cheapest station around and save a few bucks. I fill up when out on the road and it saves me about 35 bucks every fill up instead of filling up in Page.

Got the pricing from the truck at the boat show = about 53K (If I remember right)
I get the good guy pricing on chev so it was about 36....
Dont' get me wrong, I really liked the new Mega Cab and believe that the Cummings motor is great, but $$$ is important too....

Two weeks ago I drove to Hutchinson, KS and back. Filled up in Wichita, left for Plano at 9 PM. Average speed on the trip back was 75 MPH plus. The distance was around 380 miles. I drove around for another week on the same tank of fuel. When I filled up, the trip odometer registered 744 miles since the last one and the MPG calculated to 17.3.
That, my friends, is the mighty Excursion. :rollside: :rollside:

Just picked up a mega cab 3500 Cummins 4x4 last night. Only have about 10 miles on it so far. Never had a Dodge before, I sure hope I don't regret it. I thought I'd give it a try for two reasons, one reason I really like the mega cab. The other, I've already had a Duramax, F350 and GMC with the current body styles, so I wanted to try something different.
