I guess the header being a slug bait on the grass is a no go :) :D .

.....Good question...Maybe he means one of those super low drag water pump impellers.:) ...I hear that ....and thru hull exhaust is good for 8 mph.. :D

I put my son and his friend to get their hands dirty removing the header , and those watches are theirs .
That purse is a cell phone ;)
BTW if the boat will only do 87 , we'll sink it , hehe !

My friend had a 35 with 575 sci's with ASM ecu's and the boost turned up....I think he got 104 or 106 out of it

OK, since the purse is a cellphone and the watches were removed and the boys got to help, as it should be, I correct myself - at least 97. Good luck to you!

A 35' w/twin 500's on a twin step model year 00+ does 87-88 according to all the 35' ads I Have seen.
A single step with 200hp more.....I'm thinking about 95-97, sans all the other drive goodies...so maybe 100?
Fun project :)

I thought the speedmaster lowers would gain a few mph over standard lowers too .The rain has stopped so we may be able to do a few runs this afternoon :) .

I think low 90's would be a really strong number for that boat.;)
Newer twin step models (not staggered) with 525's are solid 90 mph boats. I would guess the 600's are just a little bit stronger than the 525's, but the bottom on the newer boats is a little more efficient.

Not sure if they are merc 600s with blowershop 871s? That boat with 800hp should run 107 or so.

Guys , just got back from the shakedown cruise . Had the boat up to 85 on GPS @ 4700 , boost gauge registering 7 PSI , some tabs because the boat started chine walking . We took it easy on the first try to make sure everything work without a glitch . Started to rain on us , so we cut the trip short.
We managed to get some videos that I'm going to start downloading and post here. The lake was smooth as you can see in the videos .Any idea what the gear ratio on the Imco Extreme drives ? Can't find the stampings. Running 34 P props tells me it could be a 1.5  .

I would guess it is a 1.50. That would give you a 16% prop slip number.

Nice videos.
Looks like you need a little less prop to get into the rpm range and create a little more hp. I would think 5400 would be my target. Also most of the older Fountains I've seen are in the mid teens slip wise, so youre a little high but not anything out of the ordinary. It seems to me that Fountains usually have a huge rooster tail behind them, like they need alot of trim to get top speed???? Do some searches on OffShoreOnly in the Fountain forums and see what props they recommend, for some reason I remember Hydromotives being recommended for Fountains but I don't remember what size or year.

The boat is a 1998 , so I assume it's a Gen VI engine .
The merc brochure I have from that era suggests 4800-5200 rpm range . The blower on the 600 SC in the brochure is definely not a 'TBS' blower. The boat gets loose
with trim up [ some rooster can be seen in one of the videos] and needs some tab to stop the boat from chinewalking . My Mirage does the same around 70+ without tabs. Looking at the bottom of the Fountain and my Mirage , they look similar having a delta V-pad both , minus the step for mine . Both boats seem to be running on this pad only without chine support . Both boats have the 280 K plane , which is too short IMHO  .My friend had a 29 Baja OL before this boat that never chine walked no matter what. Need more seat time to find the ideal trim/sweet spot for the Fountain.

Don't let the picture fool you ;) .It was very crappy in the morning keeping the riff-raff off from the lake . We had no problem finding a parking spot close to the ramp today:)
This is a tidal lake and only 20 min from my place by boat ,connected to the ocean via the Fraser & Pitt River .Check out the images here > http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=Pitt+Lake+BC&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2

Are you guys testing some different props or what?

spectras only

No prop testing yet . My friend just aquired a new location for his business ,
new equipment etc..... , so probably won't spend big $$ on different props
for a while . I'm sure with the right prop there's always a chance to
squeeze a few more miles :)
