I think the average between 10 and 30 would be 20 ;)
.
Bad boating season this year, probably only have 4 or 5 hrs. Normally more like 40 per summer, maybe.

If listening to music adds time to your hour meter then you have some rewiring to do.
I was in Havi two weeks ago and put 25 hours on the boat during that one week. Lots of run time...

How many miles is in an hour on a boat? If a boat has 100 hours about how many miles could that calculate to?

My hour meter only works with the ignition on. My running time varies.
My average river time is about 4 days per week, summer and winter;)

25 mph = 4 hours
50 mph = 2 hours
100 mph = 1 hour

I always heard people say that 10 hours is like 1000 miles in a car but obviously it's all dependent on tons of things.

We live in Huntington Beach and have a home in Havasu so time is limited.
Our boat is a 2005 and has 267 hours on it.
I would say we use it 20 hours a month at least during the summer. We are in Havasu for the next two weeks and I am sure we will rack some hours up.

Lets see, we purchased it with 27 hours, just hit 87 and I have had it for two seasons now. Summer is not over yet though.

140 hours in 22 months of use
equals 6.36 hours a month
equals 45 minutes a day
equals about 15 minutes of drive time
29 minutes and 55 seconds of channel time
and 5 seconds of profesionally trained spin time

We bought our boat with 100 hours on it in 2002. I just turned 400 hours this last weekend. So that would be about 40 hours a year across 4 months = 10 hours per month. Not as much as I would have guessed!

This summer is way down but i dont have a hobbs meter in either boat so no way to really tell. The last 2 summers I have actually been riding with other people due to a couple of mechanical issues but that is all over with now.

damn...
3 x out = 1 x per month divided by 18 hours = 6 hrs per month this year.
Poor boat is going to die of dehydration soon!

I bought mine new in Oct. '99. I have about 250 hours on it now. So that's 250 hours > 90 months. 2.7 hours per month.;) The rest of the time it's in the garage.

if we change up the engine ( upgrade) IN OUR BOAT
like say 2 years from now...
will my hours go to zero?
how does that work?
or does the time, reflect something else?

You could put a new hour meter in and nobody would know the hours. If you have a Merc. motor, the computer tracks the hours no matter what your hour meter says, you need a scan tool to read them. I have the same motor that my boat was purchased with so the hours it reflects are the actual hours of use. You can't erase the computers log. Once you change from the original motor, all bets are off. You would still have a boat made in what ever year, with brand new power. That's still appealing to people. The condition of your boat, will show how you've cared for it or how hard you were on it.

2005 Playcraft Powertoon.
Alot of channel sitting, so easy to do.
Just hit 86 hours, exactly 3 years old.
About 30 hours a year.

who came up with this?
is it accurate?

Hours is not a good indicator of condition. You could have one hour on the boat with a clogged cooling water intake overheat the engine and take the life right out of it.
We launched last night around 5PM and put another hour on the meter.
