Guys, I'm new here so give me a break if the subject souns a bit ignorant. Four ?s:
1.- What's the difference between the different Merc 2.5 models? Besides the obvious shaft lenght.
2.- What's tha price difference, more or less?
3.- In your opinion, is it worth to pay the difference between one and other?
4.- Finally, how good (performance like) is the 200XS compared to their bigger brothers, is there a lot of price difference and is it worth it.
I'm counting on you to put me out of my misery, by inlighteining me on these subject. You being the experts and me being the new guy, I hope you'll be pacient.
P.S.: Pardon my spelling mistakes, but english is not my born language.

Depends on what you're going to put it on. Tell us that and we can be of more help.

You're right dragally, good question but not enough input.
I'm in the process of assambly of two boats:
1.- A 850 Kg 21 footer wit a little less than 24º vee.
2.- A 24º vee 24 footer 1900 Kg, this would be a 2 engine setup.
Sorry I can't give you exact figures in pounds.

None of the 2.5 motors are built to handle much weight, they just don't like heavy boats. SS motors are great if your racing.
With twins any will be fine.
Differances will be in the charging systems, some are set up to run electronics, fishin motorz ya know!

What do you guys think would be better for the 21 footer?
Probably the 200XS, or perhaps a regular 250EFI?
These rig would regularly run very heavy. I'm thinking 4 to 6 people, ski gear, food, drinks and full gas (250lts)and water (100lts) tanks.
