I looked at this today. It is a rebuilt Club Car DS with a new Kawi 440/16hp water cooled v-twin. Street legal, digi dash, turn signals, no stereo, new body, nice cart.
It has plenty of power, it ran over 30 and that was fast enough for me because the steering felt grabby at that speed.
The hang up for me is the year...its a 1984.
What should I pay? I like the cart.

A cart is a cart.
It looks clean. I would say 3500 or so. Use the year as a bargaining tool. 3K seems fair.

That is what I was willing to pay but the guy wants $4,800 for it. I said no way.

For reference: My father in law just bought a 2006 gas EZ Go with a lift kit, wheel/tires. Looks brand new for $5900.

It's worth what you'll pay for it. At least it doesn't have any gay bombadier or yamaha logos on it :D

You're worried that the fiberglass body is a 1984? Because that's about the only thing on that cart that's still original. ;)
No, the body is new. The frame and the rear-end is the only thing original. I'm worried about re-sale. I don't keep my stuff too long. And if we get a lot of use out of it we will sell it and get a Ranger/Rhino.

there will be some cheap cats in the next few months.... because people need money and nobody has cash to buy toys as much as they did a few years ago...... the resale on un neccasary crap will drop a lot in the months ahead....

If you're looking at a Rhino, I'd probably go with that. Carts have pretty crappy resale.
Exactly!!!!!! Take this from a guy whos had a cart with a ton of money dumped into it. I sold this thing for $5k and I felt I was lucky to get it. Over $7k into it.

4800.00 and 3 months later I ended with this.

6 months after completion I gave it away for 5500.00. I had fun building it but lost my arse on the labor.

A 23 year old golf cart for $4,800
I say buy it then donate it to the Arnold Palmer golf history museum and take the tax write off. Then, add $4,000 to that and pick up a nice rhino at a fire sale.

I like the cart. It runs great, its practically all new. Just needs seats re-done to match and shocks on the front end. I offered the guy $3,500 and he turned it down. I thought, wow this guy is on crack. Oh, well. I just wanted to be sure I was not missing something.
It is just hard to find a clean high-hp golf in this town for less than $5k. I can get a nice 9hp all day long for $3,500 but those things are dogs. This one is pretty fast. I did not even top it out. He says it runs 35 and I ran it up to 30 no problem.

Into it for $8,500 as it sits. Could get 9K for it tomorrow. Lot more versatile than a 23 year old Fairway Queen IMO  :D

No question. But for me I would be looking at $10k minimum because I want a 4-seat capacity. I was just going to try the golf cart first and see if we use it enough to justify a Ranger/Rhino. That is why I want to buy something I can re-sell for a minimal loss or gain.
........I know, I am a cheap bastard but at least I am not over my head:D

Your comparing apples to oranges. The Rhino is night and day difference and really shouldn't be compared to a golf cart.

I'm not comparing them. I know the Rhino/Ranger is way more capable. I just don't want to drop $13k on a used 4-seat Ranger and then not use it enough to justify the cost. Just like people move up from Jet Skis to boats, people move up from carts to Rhinos/Rangers.

I understand what your saying but I thought the same way. The cart was definately cool but I just felt that if I still had the cart I wouldn't use it as much as the Rhino. Not to mention resale on the really sucks now since the evolution of the side/side.

$8,500? Did you buy it used? I don't know anybody that's gotten one cheaper than me and I paid $9,500 for an '06 SE.
It's an 06 SE with 300 miles on it.
Also came with the stock tires and rims (unused), billet exhaust tip, K&N air filter, CRT filter with prestage, center console, and a billet Gear-1 rear view and of course the tires, rims and roof you see. Couldn't pass it up. Now off to get the free doors this week. :D THat's how to buy a toy huh? ;)

BTW John: I still stand behind not doing a 4 seater in the Rhino...all IMO. I'd be shopping for two 2-seater quads if that was the case. But, you can say hello to $23K for that set up.
You may want to look into the wholesale auction in San Diego. To look at inventory go to NPauctions.com. (the web site goes up and down a lot). Lots of super clean repos of bikes, quads, trailers, RV's PWC you name it. . Need to go in with a dealer though like I did.
You may want to try a go-cart out to be sure you like it, before you buy the golf cart to be sure you like it, before you buy a rhino J/K :D

stop trying to justify anything... just buy the rhino...
By the way, my golf cart is for sale... still...
I would take $6k for it, but have been asking for $7k. I refuse to give it away and loose too much, I would rather keep it.
