Just go down to your local emergency room if you want to get some laughs at others misfortunes.

Rick, it's more of a get together, an opportunity to meet up with other board members, than to laugh at others misfortune. I see people there that I did not see out there on the water that day. And the same time, you can help out someone who needs help on a bad ramp, and laugh at the stupid flat drunk flat billers. :D You should try it.

Silly me, I've been going to partys, restaurants and bars to socialize with others.
I guess your right, I could try Site 6 and then maybe graduate up to hospitals and then maybe reach the pinnacle and hang out at the morgue. That would really be good for a few laughs. Stupid drunks that run their cars in to trees, what a hoot.

Just like the drunks putting their boats on sideways or putting the boat on the trailer at 20 mph! I see plenty of people's misfortune! I fly part time for Halo flight about 10 days a month.

I would have to agree with you on this one Phebus. Everybody here is always talking about boaters helping other boaters. Yeah some people at ramps are jackasses and do not know what they are doing and do not belong out there, but I know when I see somebody at the ramp in need or having a problem I go over and ask them if they need help. I would hate to see somebody get hurt, lose a watercraft or vehicle or worse for that matter especially if it could have been prevented. If I would have helped instead of sat back and laughed and took pics. Just my .02 Go ahead and flame away if you want.:D

I agree with Phebus and Shippingguy on this one. Who has not had trouble retrailering their boat here? How many times did it take to be able to launch and retrieve and the first try? I'm one for hanging out somewhere but the site 6 deal is pretty sad actually.

Also, the "Judge and Jury" that sit around and decide who to help, and who not to help (judging by the persons appearance or type of boat) seems very questionable to me. Skin color, dress, or quality of boat shouldn't be a deciding factor.
And, don't tell me it doesn't happen.

Rick, I used to disagree with you and I got caught up in the site 6 thing. Haven't been there for months and yes there are some real Assholes who hang out there. I just wish they were the ones needing help. It sure is easy to laugh at other peoples misfortunes. And the idiot who sits there and says were here to help you needs to to get a life, as he dosen't have one. Some of the comments made toward the wifes or girlfriends are someday going to get someone hurt.....End of rant:)

We went for the first time last Saturday after an early dinner at Angelina’s. I wanted to see what the big deal was. I saw some cool boats up close, some idiots that were wasted and some pros that were really skilled. I was not there five minutes before getting up to help a lady back up her trailer after she messed up three times. I could not sit there and watch and not help. If anyone of them needed help I would be there to do so. I did not care that there were others not doing anything. It’s just my nature to lend a helping hand.
Will I go back….yes, it was free entertainment. No one got injured, no one killed…. just clean fun. Will I go help anyone that needed it…absolutely. :D

Either do I.....Let's go down on our Street Legal Rhino...toss some beers back and laugh at folks that either don't know how to drive a boat, launch a boat, or had too much to drink....then after those drinks lets get back on the Rhino and drive back home.....I am sure they have a DD for the Rhino as well.

Ive been to site 6 two times b4, once on a big weekend, some of the people in the crouds are just big a$$ holes, i predict a big fight this weekend:jawdrop:
On the other hand, if your boat is 26ft plus, dont try to pull it out with a 2wd SUV;) Your just asking for trouble.

i am always afraid that one of these days with all the gang banger types at the river that one or more will get pissed off and start shooting up the bystanders or a big brawl will start and someone will end up dead.
maybe someone could get pictures of that.

It goes both ways. Say you're buying some drug of choice in the barrio, your car breaks down. Do you think these upstanding citizens are going to help you even though you're dressed a little different? Or maybe your car isn't a 78Monte Carlo, but they'll be there for moral support. Yeah right.

You're way off. You'd be more likely to get a hand in a minority neighborhood before you get help in a wealthy one. I've seen this first hand. People in nice neighborhoods don't want some broken down car in front of their property.

Where else can a guy take his tuned up wife, teenage daughter in "JUICY" sweats and park the Rhino for show and tell ?
Not to mention you get to heckle people with no concern of having your ass kicked since all the cops are just above on the balcony.
I've busted out the FU machine gun there and of course I was the badguy for it

I would never retrieve my husbands boat from Site 6 because of these "get togethers" and I have no problem backing down the trailor. I also know that ramp is sketchy anyway. Id rather drive all the way to the Springs...

I actually find the entertainment to be the drama between the boaters and the hecklers. The volley of degradations can be amusing.

No, not really. I wasn't refering to a good minority neighborhood. Even low income neighborhoods have some dignity. I was going for the one that would gladly take everything off your hands, at no charge of course. :D The wealthy neighbors would call cops or tows first. Hell, greasy hands and tools? Please.

I've been to site 6 more than once when me and my family were just learning. I didn't control the boat very well, my wife was just learning to back up the trailor, and my 12 yr old son was trying his hardest. What we all learned was that the crap at site 6 was not worth the hassle. I have helped many boaters at site 6 in the past because I know what they are going through.
A little story: My wife backed the trailor down and I couldn't see her because of all the clowns hanging out in front of the ramp even though they're trailor was no where close. When I finally saw her and came in, people had been hassling her and wanted her to get out of the way. I wasn't happy, DON'T FUKC WITH MY WIFE ASWIPE! It wasn't pretty and my 7 year old daughter didn't need to experience any of it.
Today: My wife does a great job backing down the trailor, my son (now 17) is the best 1st mate I'll ever have and I still have problems controlling the boat. Some of us may never learn, but with a little help it makes things quicker and easier. Lend a hand.

Never been, prob never will. The one time we pulled off early and used site 6 we nailed it and I had to ask the crowd for applause. They did, others were not so lucky.
See everyone this weekend, hopefully on the lake.

I got it on the first try. :D And we have our own version of the Site 6 out here, it's called the free launch ramp. Every idiot in the area goes there, along with a lot of smart people. Oh, and we get the lovely people with the RC boats who do their stuff from the launch ramp...
