actually, I started working on my baja bug project, had a great time and was out in the shop until past midnight. there was a chill in the air and I think I caught some Glamis fever
rubbed out the paint, it shines like a mofo now
dropping the seats off to ge reapolsterd today
and buying a few parts and peices to keep me busy

only if you aren't behind them on the freeway, plus you never know when they will catch fire - a roadside cookout could break out at any time - the highway Hibachi

I believe V dubs were part of Hitler's master plan to wreak havoc on the world.Little do you probably realize that Hitler engaged multiple makers to come up with a inexpensive "peoples car" for the general public. He chose the VW over other entrants on his own based completely without any real car knowledge.
Peoples Car translated into German is Volks Wagon :)
Just a little trivia for ya ;) :)
.
and I've begun to get the itch to work on my old school sandrail project again too.....Touched the thing a few days ago, first time since March.:)

Adolph continued...
Being a control freak he wanted to drive himself from his home to his headquarters without an entourage of vehicles escorting him. So introducing the VW's everywhere...he was able to blend in.

IMHO, VW's are kind of like the Stromberg carbs on small British sportscars, an ok idea when first designed. Should have been abandoned several years later. Still in production 30+ years later.
They missed a key step in the process, abandon the now poor idea for a better one..........

I was aware of that trivia except that it was a design competition - I thought it was an outright commission by the government to develop the "peoples car".
Torn up and made into dune buggies is the best use.
