Looking to buy a newer (2000 - 2005) used Quad for myself. Which quads are good and reliable? I'm about 5' 11" and 190 lbs. Would like something with a good bit of power....

Even though I love Raptors... don't get an '02 or later. A bigger guy needs more "omph". Suzuki LTZ400's are great bikes for the money, but not the fastest. All the newer 450's haul ass. Even the Kawasucki V-Force 700 are awesome bikes.
It really just depends where you're gonna take it the most, wood trails, rocky climbs, sand dunes.... it all makes a difference for which bikes

At 190lbs I'd be looking to a Raptor 660 or 700, you'll be happiest here. Just shop around for the price before pulling the trigger. Both are very reliable and have been around forever.

The honda 450 is nice and very fast. If you're looking for something for glamis or desert racing get the Yamaha Banshee

So whats the difference between a Banshee, Raptor, and a YZF?

Banshee is older technology, it's a two stroke, so you probably have to mix gas, replace the top end every few seasons, but there is a world of aftermarket for a Banshee if you wanted to build a Drag bike.
YFZ450 is a Quadcross lightweight fourstroke. They really haul ass, probably the fastest 450 out that I've seen. They handle like no ones buisness and you can toss them around in the air. Very good bike. Only disadvantages is it's kinda a rougher ride, no reverse, and the heavier you get the slower the bike gets.
Raptor 660 (2005 and older) Is a good bike too. TONS of power, decently close to a 450, probably not as quick, but it is faster. It has reverse, and tons of torque. But around turns you can feel that it is a bit tippy, or haulin ass or goin up hills the front wheels will come off the ground when not expected. The 2002 and older 660 Raptors have quite a few problems, but most of them got sorted out in 2003
Raptor 700 (2006 and newer) Is an AWESOME bike. They made the Raptor with a larger bore/motor, has fuel injected, fully adjustable suspension, and stock for stock will beat a YFZ 450 in a drag race. So far I haven't heard of no problems, but that's one reason why Yamaha came out with a new edition to fix the old raptors problems. The 700 Raptor has almost the exact suspension of the YFZ 450, but it's about 40 lbs heavier.
Like I said there's alot more bikes out there, it just depends what you ride the most

No one's mentioned the Polaris Predator (Troy Lee). I love mine. I'll smoke a banshee or a 450 all day long. Not even worth mentioning what'll happen when I race a Raptor 700. And they're cheap used.

A Predator smoking a 700 Raptor? Lol thats funny, now against the 660 at least it's a good race, but trust me when I say they Predator can't beat a 700. I've worked on both, dyno tuned both (last job) and the Predator can't touch a 700 if they were to have the same rider, same skill, same weight etc... Still an awesome bike, just not as quick as a 700, but they are faster....
