I have always liked the 22, but I really like the Shelby one. What a great looking boat. Funny though, I never hear a thing about them. I guess they are pretty expensive for a 22 so it isn't too many peoples first choice for a small V. They look like they have no room inside. Do they have any kind of cuddy?
Awesome looking but I don't think that dark blue would work here in the West heat...LOL

I think they are in the 70k range with a 496, but don't hold me to it.
Blue one with a 525 would be kick ass.

I was thinking they were more than that, but you could be right. :)
That blue would be HOT in Havasu or Phoenix though... Leave flesh on the deck if you tried to walk across it.

Not saying they're going to get it, but with only 50 made, that's the only one I could find with a price on it. :jawdrop:

IMO...they are too much for what you get. I believe they had one at the LA boat show last year:idea:

Check it out very carefully. We had a 210 Medallion with a 454 Bravo 3 for 8 months, took a bath getting rid of it, but wanted out of it before it fell completly apart. We are no longer impressed with Donzi.

I sat in one back at the LA Boat Show, but shhhhhh dont let the guys at Hahm know ;) ... it was nice, but if I wanted a classic Donzi, I'd find a used one, and redo it.

I got a complaint.....Someone mention a Rick Roll in here? LOL....
I looked at the 22 Donzi 5 years ago while shopping boats. I think at the time they wanted 55K, and you couldn't get a big block.
Cool looking boats....a bit small inside, but nice.

Local dude has one .Very nice but pricey for what it is . He had trouble controlling chinewalk. These Donzis always had a chinewalk problem once over a certain speed . To raise the X dim would help a little but would need aesthetic changes to the rear deck that no "Classic" Donzi owner is ready to make. The 22 Classic would be best with a Merc Blackhawk surface-drive or an Arneson .
Here are some shots of the local Classic 22 .

Stock Motor is a Merc 496 Bravo & 1 Drive.
Top Speed is estimated in the low 80s

Yeah, I have read the same thing, but I would be suprised if hits 80.
I am glad I posted this. I have always liked the 22. I really like the Shelby. I am suprised nobody on here has one.
Like I said, one with a 525 would be sick.
Thanks for all the replies.

That boat and the 18 classic were hands down my favorite boats at the Chicago show last year. Not the fastest or newest design hull, but damn it just looks fantastic, and for the type of boating I do here in the midwest, just about the perfect size and it would fit in the garage too. I wish more makers would build little hot rods like this.
Heres a video of somebodys Donzi 22 supposedly 93+MPH.
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/273795/donzi_22_classic_running_93_5_mph/
Somebody had a shelby 22 on ebay a few months back with 30 hrs on it, mint condition and I think it sold for around 48K, so they do depreciate.

I have an 18 Classic and love the way it handles....the chine walk does happen at high speeds......80+ they really need the weight equally distubuted......Being proud of them yes......I have continually received offers for mine several thousand above blue book.....they really seem to hold their value.......

Saw one at the LA boat show, nice looking boat but they should have worked a little harder on the motor for it, if its going to Carroll Shelby's name on it it better be performance(not that the 496 isn't a performance motor), they could have done a little more ie- hp500 or something. Just doesn't really fit, if the industry was ford friendly then i would say put a 429 or 427 something in it.

Agreed, however no marine engine builder, Mercury Marine, Volvo Penta, PCM/Cusader, produces engines from ford blocks.
And contracting out to a 3 party builder would raise the cost of the boat even more, plus be a warranty nightmare in the long run.
Finally Donzi has an exclusive contract with Mercury Marine, only to use their engines.

Doesnt look like it would take a real big effort ...to make an all white 22 ....look just like the Shelby edition....:D

How much of that $80K is "branding blue sky" and how much is quality craftmanship?
