Really cool, thanks .... I remember going through the canal for the first time right after they completed the bridge and English village ... awesome looking then.
Hope they restore it instead of building more hotels/condos.

I hope they do restore the English Village, walking through there at night is a little scary they should put a nice English Pub and some restaurants back in there..

That's not a Bayliner being backed into the channel behind the red truck, is it?

The flood was 1983.
How many people know that there was an Arizona Navy in the 1930's while Parker Dam was being built?
The Parker Dam was primarily built by and for the LA Metropolitan Water District. The Feds, of course "built" it. But MWD put a lot of financials behind the project.
Well, Arizona was none too happy that the Dam was being built to siphon away "OUR" water, and the Governor sent the Arizona Militia to prevent the workers from encroaching on Arizona Soil.
When the Militia arrived they commandeered a bunch of boats, (including the Parker-Earp Ferry) and went up River to guard our shores. But in doing so, they go the boats caught in the cables and chains from the construction and the all nearly drowned. The construction workers had to save them.
The Militia returned to Phoenix and the two states resolved their differences diplomatically. Thus was the end of the brief Arizona/California war.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers the flood was in '83. I turned 19 that year and AZ drinking age was 19, so off to Sundance we went!:D
Thanks for the story on the militia standoff - never heard that one Boatcop.

Was this the same flood that washed out and closed the stores and shops accross the road at blue water?

This is what gave Echo Lodge the need for a Sea Wall. Echo used to have beach all the way around. Totally eroded away.
In my 40 years of Parker I have only seen those gates open twice. Not all but just two. Freaking wicked.
