Shit like that happends all the time... normally its some guy in a honda/ toyota sedan trying to fit a 10-16 footer in the trunk.

Would have been better to have run the boards under the truck with equal amounts extended beyond, and tied to, the bumpers. Been there , Done that.
Could also run them down the side as well and tied off to an engine bracket and the stake hole in the bed. Done that one too.
Option 3 and always the better option, Store Delivery :D
