Haven’t made Jello Shots in about 3 years.
If the recipe on the called for 1 cup of boiling water & one cup cold water, I’d use ½ to ¾ of a cup of boiling water, to dissolve the Jello mix.
Then I’d add the alcohol. Most people use vodka, which is fine, but when I was able to get it through a friend, I’d use 100% pure ethyl alcohol, and it wasn’t Ever Clear. Minimal taste and odor and no color. We had to keep it in the freezer because it would evaporate in anything above 32* F.
After about 4 of these jelloshots you were feeling pretty loose!

The time needed for the gelatin to congeal is based on the amount of liquid used. Additionally if you like your jello “solid” you would use less liquid. If you prefer your jello “runny or soupy” then you’d increase the liquid.
I’m actually using the recipe on the box, just substituting part of the water for alcohol

Let the Jello set in the fridge as normal, but after it has firmed slightly, push the cherries into the mix. Let it finish firming. Be sure to leave the stems on the cherries if you can get them that way. The stems sticking upwards.

Coconut and Melon Delight Jello Shot
1 package Watermelon jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup Malibu White Rum
Mix hot water and jello. Add rum. Pour into 2 ounce cups.

use 1 cup water 1 cup alochol or if you dont want it to be too strong I use 1 cup hot water, 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup alochol
