You'll be seeing one in my driveway in '07.
I wasn't old enough to participate in the muclecar craze in the late 60's early 70's. But you can bet I can do it now.
One look at that car, and the wife said we are getting one. So I am cleared.

Hopefully Chrysler doesn't jack it up like they usually do.
Limited run, 4 cylinder only, 4 door only. Who knows.

What Chrysler product doesn't have a "Hemi" these days? They have marketing that word into the ground and then some
The car does look really cool and some serious HP I believe. Reminds me of my old 70 Cuda in high school.
Anyone know a price?

From what I have read it will have the 6.1L hemi and a 6speed manual tranny.
MSRP will probably be low 40's if you can find one at that price.

It won't be that much lighter.
The Charger,Magnum and 300C are all within a hundred or so pounds of each other.
I am gona guess that the car weighs in at 3900lbs once completed.

From what I've read, the SRT8 version (6.1L 425HP) will be standard. There will be an optional 392ci version that will come standard with the Viper 6 speed tranny. I think they said it was rated at 505 or 550HP.
Either way with the 392, that will be a smokin ride!!!

The SRT 8 is about 4490 lbs base . GVW is 6150 . Tow capacity is only 3500 max due to tire/wheel combo .The challenger will be about 3300 lbs similar to the viper .My 72 was around 3400 lbs without all the bells and whistles [amps a/c power this -power that ] of today's cars .Wonder how much it's going to cost ? A fellow I work with has put down a deposit on the 07 Shelby Cobra GT 500 ,and he doesn't know what the final cost will be. He doesn't even know what colour he'll get because he's #6 on the list of only 14 brought in this province.I'm sure there will be gouging by the dealers

I would not consider my 300c SRT8 jacking it up....actually, I think Chysler and Dodge are the only one's getting it right with bringing good looks, stupid fast performance, and great driving cars for a 1/2 what the Euro's are charging you for the same performance...

I didn't elaborate because I have posted on this subject in the past.
Problem with Chrysler is, and has always been, they never take a good idea the rest of the way.
Why is it Chevy and Ford STILL have big blocks available, but CH doesn't? Motorhome chassis, pickup trucks, marine? At the very hint of a gas shortage it was phased out, maybe due to a deal they made, I know, but never bring it back?
Hemi cars, the real ones, not the bullshit hemi. All limited production.
340 ci same deal.
Few V-6, V-8 rear drive cars. Most are front wheel drive, dropped the musclecar genre, not Chevy and Ford. At least they kept the Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, T-bird, even when it wasn't as successful.
Chevy built the Cyclone/Typhoon, Buick GN, which IMHO were 10 YEARS ahead of their time.
Dodge? Hello Dodge? Anyone there? Pretty bleak product line. Does anyone remember a cool car that Chrysler had after the musclecar era? Do any of them have a cult following like any of the other mentioned cars?
Srt-4/Srt-8, how many of those you see out there? I have not seen one. Magazines, pictures, sure.
The early Dodge Stratus, which I thought was a cool small/midsize car, no two door. Sorry.
My PT, nice looking retro car. 4 door only. Don't like it? Tough shit. Oh you want a V-6/V-8? Sorry we don't have that. Can't build it.
Viper, Prowler, all limited production. You want a Corvette from Chevy? Sure, how many you want? 10-20? You want to be the big baller in your town at 30 units? No problem. We'll build you as many as you can buy/wreck.
I am a diehard Mopar nut. I'm sure most of you know that. But when Chrysler builds something nice, that people will want, they throw a wrench in it everytime.
I am crossing my fingers that Chrysler can/will build a Chrysler Cuda, Dodge Challenger to compete on price/performance/availability of the Mustang/Camaro/Corvette genre. Cause I want one. BAD.
Might even be able to talk the wife into a convertible. If they make it.

Yeah, that was a bullet proof motor that V4....It was similar to the ones SAAB used in their old 60's and early 70's vintage V4 models.
Little FoMoCo tractor engines. Know a guy who builds up those old v4's to make 300hp....

Do you find it interesting how all the makes are bringing back all the old cars retro? Slight redesign of the old look that was popular....is it they are not able to design something appealing to the general public any longer?

I hear ya and going back to the post muscle car times I agree......I just think some of the limited stuff mopar has done has been quite good of late...Even if it is niche, niche and not overexposed can be good at times.....Not sure if they want to keep building big blocks if they are getting a good engine from Illmor....that seems to also power quite a few boats as well these days....I am not a believer in the "Have to build it yourself" mentality....

They haven't built a good big block worth the name since 72-73. '78 was the last year they were produced and I think it made 250 HP. Anemic. It was a big block by dimensions only.
Overexposed like the other models I mentioned? These cars are on every street corner.
I have only seen TWO Vipers, and TWO Prowlers close enough to touch, that WEREN'T at a car show. Both of those are bitchen cars, and should have been available to anyone that wanted one.
Hell for that matter I have seen more Lambros and Ferraris close enough to touch.

I'd want one with any V8 engine at all. My muscle car days are over so I don't need to be able to squawk the tires on the 5->6 shift.
It needs to have a nicer interior than the Charger, though. :yuk:

Don't know what you talking about. There are Vipers at almost every Dodge dealer around here sitting waiting for a buyer :p . One of my buddy bought a Henessey Viper right from the showroom , all black. He just brought a Lambo from Florida , I haven't seen yet ,let alone sit in it :rollside: .

These are present listings of used and new available . Popularity dropped in the last few years , since the C-5's [ much cheaper] . Talked to a fellow at a chebby meet 2 weeks ago who just bought a 2006 Vette LS-7 $105 cdn out the door .Some 2005 C-5's went for $55K cdn ,less than half price of a Viper .

I was talking specifically about big blocks in the post you referred to sir.
Go check out in your garage and tell me which big block is in your truck.
I have to be the bringer of bad news, but you have a 10 cylinder SMALL block in your SRT-10 bud.
