I'm going with a friend of mine (22 DonziZX owner)and maybe others to Lake Cumberland KY over mother's day weekend for a Donzi boat rally. It's billing itself as the "Awakening of the horses". Now I'm no Donzi owner but I do pack a few horses and I know there will be a lot of other boats hanging around as well. I'm fortunate to have a mother who owns a cabin on the eastern end of the lake near Buck Creek Marina and that's where we'll be staying at night. We plan on arriving the 9th of May and staying thru the 15th.
Who else plans on going and what boat do you drive and what are it's colors/call-sign? My buddy will be in a white 22 DonziZX with blue trim and I'll be either in a new Sunsation 28 or still in my Stingray 230SX white with blue checkerboard. We're keeping the rain coats aboard and the coolers well stocked for full days of Cumberland and we hope to see and hook up with as many as possible while there....This is mine... http://www.geocities.com/h20bugged/Stingray.html

JAMMIN! From Connecticut! Man I thought we were travelin' from afar coming from Va. Beach. Your boat sounds hot and can't wait to see it along with the other classics and heck, all the rest of the power enthusiasts that will hanging out. We'll see you out there. Look for a white Stingray with blue checkerboard striping with STUNG AGAIN on the transom (or possibly a new 28 Sunsation by then) a 1999 22 DonziZX blue on white and a 22 SCARAB with yellow checkerboard striping with Tweety on the fairing. Most likely we'll be all running side by side or rafted up together. Come on by if you see us......
I now must add a newly ordered 26ZX Donzi to that list of boats I mentioned. My man Bob just put one on order and it's due 01 May. Gonna be awesome with blue checkerboard poker run graphics, 496-HO and other goodies!... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

First run of the season 105 mph, that's wind in my face. Just got back from a two hour boat ride, it's cold out!!! 45 deg. Getting ready for Lake Cumberland!!!
Boat ran great, hit 80mph @ 5200 rpm's in a 25 mph head wind, with a 1 foot chop. A little short of the 6000 rpm goal, need to take some pitch out of the prop.
She was solid. No bow searching or chine walk. But with all the wind, I found myself crouching lower and lower in the seat, tucking my knee's under the steering wheel. It was almost impossible to glance at the gauges.
What a rush, everything else in the world stopped... all I could sense was, the sound of the wind, with the roar of the engine in the back ground; the tingling of my scalp as the wind tug against my hair; the tighten of the skin on my face from the pulling of my cheeks, the chatter of the hull though my seat from the rapid cresting of the one foot chop and the taste of the salt filled air.
WOW, I'm having a moment here!!
I'm glad it's spring. My eye's are tearing..
The new cooling system work great.
Had a couple of drops of oil in the bilge?

Now I think I've found someone as ate up and dedicated as I. I too on the same weekend was out with the sun shining but the temps were in the 40's and I was in the 70's. When i came back I looked like Jack Nicholson's "Joker" from Batman with a frozen grin on my face.
Now I have since gone yonder in more temperentweather and I'm fix'n to go in even more boat like weather this weekend...IN THE SEVENTIES BOY'S!!! here in Va. Beach. God I love this place. And we had a relatively long winter (4 months). The boatels are gonna empty out and the coolers and beaches are gonna fill up with "boat-soda" and boats and certainly with at least one Stingray....

Hey all you AOTH'ers! My gang has nailed down our accomodations for Lake Cumberland 9-14 May. My family's cottage on the east end for the first three nights then Jamestown Marina Saturday night and back to the cottage for Sunday night and a Monday departure.
We're already talking checklists of weekend spoiler items extra to bring. Things like extra bow/stern light bulbs, fuses, thermostats, fuel-water separator filter(especially right after winter), extra oil engine and stern, spare boat keys, drain plugs, bearing grease, spare buddy bearing etc. The ONLY thing that will catch us off guard is the ...... dare I say......WEATHER EEE_GADD!!! Not too many bubba's yakking it up like on the offshore sight. Like Pink Floyd once remarked......"Is there anybody out there?... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

Scott, all is well here in the East. Weather's been great and getting better. We had an overheating baby-Scarab (22') but was able to fix it (worn raw water pump housing).
Bryan's been around with his 22ZX Donzi runs great and the Stingray keeps getting faster with every little tweak I make.
Bob (DONZIMAN2) is in Forida as I type visiting the Donzi factory and hopefully getting some pics of his partially put together 26 ZX. Should be back home and updating his trip on the BB's Friday night. Maybe he'll have some digitals to attach as well.
We're still tracking for KY and getting more and more pumped as the days go by. We've started our count-down checklist ensuring each will bring consumable parts so little things like a impeller, thermostat or fuel separator won't dampen the weekend. Trailers are being tweaked and speeds are being verified. We'll be there in three and a half weeks...... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif

Had a blast at the "Awakwning"! Rafting up at the 76 falls was awesome as was all of the lake beauty. I'd love to be there on the 4th of July....... http://free.***boat.net/ubb/cool.gif
