for you chevy owners what type of gas mileage is your 6.0 and or 6.6 getting? I am trying to decide which way to go diesel or gas?

I currently own both. I honestly never checked the 6.0 empty, but towing 10k I get about 10 mpg. Same trailer with the 6.6 I get 14. I can get 22+ with the 6.6 empty. Both are HD 2500 with 3.73, but of course the 6.6 has the Allison with different ratios.

I have owned both also, my 6.0 gas got 12 to 13 around town and about 5 to 6 towing my trailer, I had 33" tires on it. My 6.6 diesel I get 17 to 20 around town and 11 to 12 towing my trailer, just stock tires on it. Both trucks are 4 door 4x4 long beds. I am really happy with my '07 Chevy, what a difference towing!!

Thats yet another report of people getting much worse-than-expected mileage with their 6.0. I have heard that so many times and I guess I'm the lucky one... but I should check actual mileage with my own math instead of the dashboard computer. Maybe I'm not getting that much.

I Have a new silverado 2500HD 6.0 373 with the new 6 spd hd trans. Its a Z71 I have been averaging around 14. Previous truck was a 2500hd duramax with allison and there is no comparison. pulling I average 10mph with the 6.0 and 18mpg with the duramax. Dont make the mistake I did, purchase the diesel.

With the Diesel I have been averaging around 17 or so. I can get quite a bit higher while doing freeways.

I had an 03 2500HD CC SB 4x4 with the 6.0L got 12 to 13 around town.....8 to 10 mpg towing light. 6mpg towing anything near 10,000lbs.
I have an 05 2500HD CC SB 4x4 with the Dmax. Average 16 to 18 around town. over 20mpg on the freeway. 14 to 15 mpg towing 10,000lbs.
Much happier with the diesel. Don't think I'll ever go back to a gasser for towing. Also if you get the diesel look at getting a larger tank like the the ones from Transfer Flow. I got the 45 gal tank that replaced the stock 26 gal tank. I can go from home to havasu and back on one tank no problem and it makes the fact that diesel isn't sold at every gas station easier to deal with.

I had two 6.0 gas trucks/suburbans and would never go back. How much was the Transfer Flow? Easy to install? I only have a 32gal and can't put one in the bed of the truck because it's always being used.

Tank was about $800 or so plus shipping. With the short bed I bumped from 26 gal to 45 gal. I think they have a 56 gal for the long beds.

Install was fairly easy but it's a two person job to wrestle in the new tank. Discoonect the fuel filler hose and vents, drop the old tank, swap over a few parts (It uses the stock fuel pump and sending unit and comes with everything else), and install the new tank and brackets. Fuel guage is a little off but not bad. Only thing strange is that when the guage reads empty I still have about 7 gallons left. I use it a a kind of "reserve".

I got mine at Aero Tanks in Corona.
48 Gal for short bed $1100 installed and they have a 64 Gal for long beds installed for the same price.
I have a 45 gal. toolbox tank in my long bed so I still have 6 1/2' of bed. It transfers straight into my stock tank giving me 79 total gals. It's nice being able to pass Ludlow and hit the swith when my stock tank gets low. I found out Ludlow doesn't have diesel the hard way.
Any way you go, it's well worth the money. Especially when traveling, you never know when you'll need fuel and wont be able to find it. I always keep my extra tank 1/2 full around town. Sometimes you get lazy and don't want to stop for fuel.

I have the same. I went with the bed tank, because they didn't have the 64 gal remplacment tank available when I bought mine. You only lose 18" of bed space with the toolbox tank. and it is level with the bed rails. The tank has about an 8" deep tool box on it, so that makes up a little bit of space lost.

I have looked at these and like them very much. My problem is that I haul golf carts & six passenger carts(that barely fit in long bed w/gate down). I am most interested in the replacement tank. Thanks again for the great info.
