Nordic had a pair in their new large v as well, at the LA boat show. They said setup was crucial with the new drives, and that mercury was having to "certify" the install. At the time mercury was offering a $4500 up charge to a number six if there was a problem with the new drive. At the time, if I remember correctly, the price to the dealer was about $43,xxx, for the motor, drive, and transom assembly. Not sure what others think, but that seemed like a smokin price for that package!

I know Kachina set one up in a single engine 30' for a guy in Tahoe. I heard they ran it here in town and it ran the exact same speed in Tahoe. Seems pretty cool that once you set it up you don't ever have to change the prop again.

Cigarette runs them on their new 39' Top Gun and is having great results along with Sunsation on their 43'. There have been a few instances on Fountains, NorTechs and Outerlimits where there were some issues that may have since been worked out. I believe the shape of the lower/skeg was the main issue (hydrodynamics).

If you can get a good price on it, I don't think you could go wrong. Numbers should be very similar to any other manufacturer with a 700hp motor. The set back on the drive is bette, so the numbers should be slightly better. If I was in the market for a new boat, I would strongly consider that package. Its hard to beat Mercs packages and warranty.

Glad to hear that. I am at 2400 elev in Canada and am geting it in a 29 Wizard. Was that the 5 blade maximus? What did it run?

I have seen on this forum others who have 800hp with 28 -30 ft v's running 28 -32 props getting mid 80's to low 90's. This leg is 200 lbs lighter which eliminates my fat ass, so you got your gear and passengers. The test run is always higher with less gas and no gear. The elev in Hav is lower too. I have always had V's but have never run 90's. Sounds scary. Can't wait till 08.:D

I didn't here exactly, they just said 80's which probably means 79 or 80, I do remember 28 pitch Bravo 1 prop. The bottom of the 29 wizard is going to be real similar so the 30 Kachina so you should be in the same ball park.

Adrenaline has a single 700 with NXT in one of the 30v's they have built.

Ya we have one of the 700SCI NXT1 single's in our Adrenaline V30 and it does 92mph with a 29 Pitch Cleaver and it will do about 95mph with a 30pitch cleaver. The nice thing about the new motor is it will produce the same horsepower whether its at altitude or whether the temp is 25 degrees or 130 degrees. Its an awesome setup, and we have one in our boat and its for sale ;). Let me know if you need any info and Ill be happy to forward it on to you.
thanks John

If you are talking about the NXT it is 200lbs. lighter than a #6, but heavier than a Bravo one. Still a great package that will go in my next boat I build for srue.

You will be looking at much more that $43k for this package. $43k will not even get you a 525 package with a xr drive setup.

I never knew it was heavier than a brav 1 but at least they say it can handle 6-800hp. Had probs with a procharger 502, if it didnt blow the leg did. This package is about 50k but you gotta add scoop/tabs/hyd steering to that.

Most recent data I saw was the HP525 is around $34 with XR and the new 700Sc with NXT is right at $52K (verified within the week). I think the 700 is an amazing package and is reasonably priced for what you get.

Yes, Patrick agreed ..... Not only is this NXT (mini 6) drive stronger but that 700 puts out 700 all day long, any heat and any altitude. That Ilmor 710 might be lighter, but the Merc 700 would kill it in the Havi heat :D

Heat yes, altitude no, my 700's did not like Tahoe as set up for Havasu, when I go to Tahoe, I follow the 4 inch rule,,as in 4 inches of pitch smaller then Sea level props IMHO

What is the elevation of Tahoe? You mean you are running 26 P 4 blades there. What is the change in performance?

6600 ft. elevation,I run 38X16.5 CNC Merc cleavers at Havasu 132mph on the limiters HARD, (5400 rpm) in 115 degree heat.At Tahoe with the same wheels,4800-4900 @ 119-120mph maybe :( and takes literally 2-3 minutes to get on plane with all the passengers getting friendly down below :( I'm calling bullshit on Mercs claim for altitude compensation at least at the higher altitude lakes, but they do work in the heat unlike the Ilmors in my Specturd. IMHO :)

Cool, must be a pretty noisy 3 minutes.I think those motors only compensate at idle for starting and idling but there is not enough air when the RPM's go up, Just like any other motor. Your boat sounds awesome. What is it?Never mind, looked it up. Sweet boat!

Thanks! I went from Tahoe to Idaho (2400 ft) and the boat never ran better! I talked to The Merc guys at Miami last year and they claimed the 700's compensated till about 4000-4200ft which still kicks butt compared to anything else out there

It's actually only compensated to 2500ft. 600 is good to 4500ft, 850, 1075 is good for 5000ft.
Thanks,
