FYI, the Nordic Tract in Running Springs is the last set of homes on the North side of hwy 18/Hilltop Blvd before you get to Arrowbear. They would be NE of the Union 76 gas station, behind the ski rental shop. This fire is very close to Arrowbear and is burning back into Crab Flats behind GVL.

Very sad. I spent alot of time in the deep creek area out of high school. I'm sure HavaSkank would like to see those pictures. Last I heard she didn't know if her house made it thru the fire. :( Why did it seem that the houses that were lost still had green trees around them.

I had a place on Maplewood off of Little Bear and a dock in Blue Jay Bay behind the island. My parents still live in RS. We are pretty sure their house is OK. Although some homes on the two adjacent streets have burned.:(

I've actually never traveled up Little Bear and that area even though I travel North Bay every time I leave or return to the mountain. I live off Zermatt Dr. off Voltaire.
Have you had visual confirmation that your parents home is OK. You can PM me their address and I can see if my brother-n-law is going to be over there today. He's a fireman so he can travel back and forth. He also has a couple of good friends commanding the strike teams in RS.
Running Springs got hit hard. My wife's a teacher at Grandview and she's already heard of a couple teachers that lost their homes there. We've already confirmed that all of our close friends homes in RS are OK, but I'm sure we're going to find out later about some losses.

There are Grass Fire pics in there toward the end. I talked with a FF buddy last night and he said the fire came up Grass Valley Creek to the Grass Valley Lake Dam and burnt up into the tract above the lake. Streets like Brentwood, Merced, Amador, Black Oaks, Windward, Trinity, are in the area that got hit hard.

Not first hand but pretty sure it is OK. I'll PM you the address--thank you.
As far as Maplewood, our place was just off of Cottonwood within walking distance of the lake. You could take either Cottonwood or Little Bear off of NB Rd.

Thanks for the confirmation PM! I will let them know all is OK. This is a good example of why I stay on these forums even with all the BS and drama, there are still some good people on here that look out for each other.

There are a lot of good peeps here. I'm glad I was able to provide confirmation that your parents home is OK. Now I hope they let me go home in the next couple of days.

The last three days and heading back up in a few minutes. They seemed to have most of it knocked down yesterday.
Headed to Green Valley lake today...

Glad to hear everything is OK @ your house. We got home from Havasu around 6:15 last night. I was surprised that more people did not come back home. We know several friends that are staying down the hill till this weekend since school is still out.

We are either rebuilding, doing MW, or putting in temp sites for a wireless carrier. The CHP guys don't even slow me down on the 30 at the blockade now... Even did an enhancer for the fire camp at Snow Valley. Kinda wierd four by'ing to the top the the hill at the ski resort...
