wish they woulda made the camaro a bit more retro looking. cudas and challengers are gonna look straight out of the history books. wonder if the cuda will share the same "frame" as the challenger. what ive seen of the challenger, looks a bit to narrow for me.

Yes it's the same LY frame. The Challenger I believe is 3 inches wider and 6 inches longer than the original

I like it, but it really does look like the 69 Camaro in the side shot from the windshield pillar back.
I am just thankful they are thinking about cars that don't look like they were all squeezed out of an almost empty tube of toothpaste, 95% of the stuff out there today is BORING.

I don't like the plastic looking ring around the hood where the shaker hood scoop goes through. That's going to look just like crappy Chrysler body trim after it's been in the sun for a year or two.
Also, I'm not big on the front end. What's with the crinkly shit around the headlights?
Everything else is good. I hope that's a funky prototype and the production versions have a little more paint and less of the carbon fiber look.

I always thought the Cuda looked like a 69 Camaro as well.... that's why I love them both :D

If Chrysler doesn't f uck it up and turn it into a 4 door-only-car, I will have one in my driveway.
It is nice to see Chrysler pull their head out of their ass for once and spend some time on the Cuda, rather than the Challenger, since the Cudas far outsold and outlasted the Challenger.

Well they did somthin funky to the new challenger. perhaps the ride height is too high. am i the only one that thinks the challengers profile aint right? perhaps it was camera angles?

... i the only one that thinks the challengers profile aint right?
I had two of the original series. A 1973 and a 1970.
From the pictures, this new one looks better.

Being a Mopar guy I learned recently that the first year Challenger models will all be RT's 6.1 HEMI. It may be a shorter run so as few as 5,000 units.

Exterior is bad ass, but dodge has always been behind there times on the interior. They need someone fron Nissan to design the interior IMO.

I agree on that one. at least Chrysler and Ford are trying to bring back the retro look. GM doesn't have a clue how bring back the GTO. What a POS.

The 6.1 is a very nice, smooth delivery, daily driver engine too....can't wait for them to release the challenger..

I think I like the 2009 Z06/ZR1 Corvette prototype that made its way to California for the American Le Mans Series season at Laguna Seca this last weekend. See video below

Nope it looks more like the actual 67 Camaro that I had way back. But I'm OK with that. Still a great looking car.
Has anybody seen or heard anything new about the return of the GTO?

Yep, some definete Chevy plagerism on those quarters, in fact I think it looks a lot better than Chevy's attempt on the new Camaro.

Don't know how the Camaro came into this discussion , chebby guys ;) :) . The Cuda and the Challenger were both wider bodies than the late 60's Camaro .They had some similarities at the rear portions back in those days . Maybe the concept Camaro was copying some styling with a chopped roofline .
Here's my 72 Challenger I've bought new in it's original colours . I've changed to metallic blue later .As much as I liked my Challenger [ had it for 8 yrs before sold it ] I wouldn't buy one now . Give me a modern supercar :D

pw_Tony
10-31-2007, 09:50 AM
Nope, sold it to buy my Orange '70. Actually sold it to boyd cottington, and once in a while on the show I see it in th back stripped..... he probably didn't like all the fiberglass I layed over rust holes under the paint :D
http://i2.tinypic.com/5ylcoes.jpg
And like you I tow my 20' Spectra with my '69 Plymouth satellite

10-31-2007, 09:58 AM
I see , Boyd should fix it up or just sell it to some Mopar guys to return it to
its original form .
Mine had an option I haven't seen on others . A stereo cassette player with
recording function with a mike . I've heard some cops had one , recording
conversation with informants without their knowledge ;) . It wouldn't fly well
with lawyers today .
I had to sell mine when bought the 76 Spectra . In a few years I went through three clutches ,even
though it was a 3500# unit , but the rear end was a 3.23 . Didn't want to bother putting in a 4.11 at
the time .The car/boat looked cool though .Not many Challengers were towing back then .

I think the new camaro looks like crap.....it seems to be a compromise of a design room/board room fight of futurist versus retro and due to the compromise they miss the mark on both themes.....

Don't get me wrong. I'm not one of those die hard Chevy or Ford or Dodge people.
I like cool cars. Period. The old Cuda is definitely on my car collection list. That is if I ever wake up rich someday:D It just looks like a Camero in the back to me. And by the time the accountants & engineers get done hacking the concept apart to make it affordable it will look like a Taurus. :D

The Cuda's probably not comming out, but the Challenger is. As far as I know 5.7L=350hp 6.1L=430hp possibly 6.4L=500hp. And possibly a 6 speed viper traanny

No it's not available, if they do offer it it will be new to the Challenger... and Haul ass and compete with the Shelby Mustangs.
And that Orange Challenger is a '70.... not a '71 ;)
