The American Automobile Association of California says some drivers are now paying $4 a gallon for regular unleaded gasoline.
Crude oil prices hit an all-time high Wednesday, above $98 a barrel and analysts say with worldwide oil demand rising -- it is still not clear just how high prices will go.
In Salinas, AAA recorded an average of $3.39 per gallon. Santa Cruz is at an average of $3.37 per gallon.
KSBW checked and found gas in Gorda, south of Big Sur, is even higher. Drivers there are paying $5 for gas.
Over the past two weeks gas has gone up 15 cents in California alone, according to AAA.

Absolute truth to that. On my way home last night, I passed my local "cheap" gas station, and it was $3.35 per gallon. This morning it was $3.75....WHAT THE F*CK?
The last time I took my boat out, the fill up bill was $231, that same bill today will be $300! :jawdrop:

$3.55 for diesel while $3.09 for regular is at the same station. That gap is growing and I don't see diesel getting much of break since winter's on it's way.

We are screwed.... And to think the cost of living raise I got this year only paid for the increase in health care coverage.
Good thing I am running recycled french fry oil in my truck.

Yes, this kinda puts things in prospective. If I can't afford to drive, I walk. If I can't afford heating oil, I freeze.........I really like the fry oil idea. Those diesels will run on about anything....MP

You're probably way under normal towing capacity considering you can still smell the fire when you're in foothill. You'll pass out before hitting the toll plaza.

It's $3.19 out here in Menifee. Diesel is $3.70, though.

Gas here is $2.49, and diesel is $2.89 a gallon. Wonder what effect this is going to have on new boat sales and vehicle sales, unless its a gas getter.

I just bought 600 gal. yesterday from the cheapest guy around.
$2.89 per gal. and if I had taken 1,000 gal. like I usually do it would be $2.84 per gal.
This year it will be about $3,000 to heat my house for the winter.
Last year is was a hair over $2,000.....
I dont know how the average guy with a ex wife or two, kids, mtg. etc., can make it????
Short filled the tank betting on a warmer than average winter which will lower the price about half way through winter.
Be good, Jim
