I screwed up my computer, and I know with a windows operating system you can go back in time and restore your settings. Does anyone know if you can do something similar with a Mac? If so, how?

Use the system disc. restart holding down the C key then do a system restore. Mark

Will that allow me to restore to a specific time (such as yesterdays date), or just do a restore to the original computer settings?

Depends on what os you have? The new os 10.5 has a program called Time Machine that allows you to do that.

Nope then only a system restore. What exactly are you trying to retrieve from yesterday?

I changed my file extension, and now when I log on, it doesn't bring up any of my files, settings, etc. I would like to get the computer back to before I made the change.
