That price range would get you a nice YFZ 450.
Perfect for your needs, you won't get bored with it like with the 400's.

I sold a low use 05/06 Bombardier 650 Baja to a guy about 6 months ago. It came with a (extra) set of new never used paddles and steer tires all on polished aluminum rims. Also had an extra set of plastic (black, bike was changed to red). This beast would be perfect for the sand. BIG power 4 stroke water cooled shifter.
He needs to sell it because he had a motorcycle accident and has arm strength issues and cant ride it.
He would probably take $4400 and I think that is a steal with the extras.

I've had both a Raptor 660 and a YFZ450. Sold the 450 because it beat the shat out of me. I'm 6'2 240 and just was not comfertable on it. It had plenty of pwer though. I will go with a Raptor 700 next time, lots of power but a bigger bike. I loved the suspension on the YFZ though.

How big are you LAFD?
If you're a bigger guy maybe a Ds650 or Raptor 660 is in order...

If you're a hill shooter, no matter what you run, someone will always show up that is twice as fast.
This Hayabusa powered DS doesn't even have to shift:

Hmmm maybe a yfz isn't the best choice for you. Ds650 Raptor660 Banshee are all good bikes for bigger guys
