I believe you're right. I had an old MX 80 with the same paint scheme and was looking for those. but after seeing the yz pic I think you're spot on.

No problem. I had a 1980 YZ465 that I totally rebuilt. It had two speeds....stop and fast. :)

well the two from the bike boneyard are sold and ive lost two or three auctions on ebay for them . . . any one got an extra ??? The one i have that im matching up to is actually metal instead of aluminum but has the exact same shape and the off center fuel fill but the petcock is on the inside of the pinch seam on the bottom instead of the outside. . . any one know what this tank would be ???
I think the alum. one would work and will definately be better and lighter but i hate paying big ebay money without knowing for sure if it will fit. . . HELP{ !!!

Not for not, but didn't the MX's have white tanks for a couple years after the YZ came out?

Have you tried any of the online parts locators. There are several sites that deal with bike salvage.

T.That Kawi in the background looks like the KE model, either 175 or 250(probably 250 by how big head is)
I had the Burnt Orange color one in '76...was a great bike.
