Looks OK, but why such a small engine? Why not the 6.6?

Seriously, that's fine for picking the kids up from soccer, getting the groceries, and going to dinner, but how’s it going to handle towing a 7500 lbs load in the middle of summer up a grade?

its supposed to have 305 horse/560 torque...nothing less than an 05 lly 6.6 duramax that will pull 12,000lbs  :jawdrop:

If I wanted fuel economy, I would by a Prius.

Size....
The 6.6 won't fit in bewteen the 1/2 ton rails.
Should work well but it's gonna be pricey.

Bingo!
They couldnt fit it in the h2's either that's why they never made duramax hummers. though i'm sure we'll see them with the new 4.5 option. Although some aftermarket company makes an H2 with the 6.6 durmax, makes you wonder why GM can't do it with unlimited resources, but some joe blow company can  friggin OEM's

understandable, I'm hope GM isnt dumb enough to drop the big diesels in the 3/4+ tons

Fuel economy.
Definately fuel economy. Why would mommy want the bigger engine to drive the kids around and get groceries. I get a kick out the people that drive big trucks because they want big and be up high for better visability. Stick the Primus engine it it. :D

Wonder what the milage will be, and if it would be worth it considering diesel is usually more expensive.

Who sez that thing is a 1/2 ton? I see 8 lug wheels, thinking it's a 3/4!

carl- its a 1/2 ton chasis, with 3/4 ton running gear. the numbers given were wrong though, every article i have read says 310HP, 520Ft.Lb. to be mated to a 6L90E, heavy duty version of the 6L80, but still not an allison. Rumor has it just below 30mpg highway.
ive been waiting for this motor. its going to be in my next truck. Parker trips will be a lot cheaper than my current 10mpg guzzler.
oh yeah, and i think the suburban was only a SEMA concept. I heard H2 and Silverados only in the first year.

So Chevy isn't with Isuzu anymore?

the reason it is not the 6.6 is the Allison. GM cannot fit the Allison under the suburban and 1/2 ton bodies. The HD's have a body lift to fit the Allison under it.
With stats like that, that 4.5 should be a nice combo in a burb.

If you ask me,I'd say the 6.6 won't fit in the burb...:)
Seriously. Do you need more than 500 ft lbs of torque to drive every day and tow 15 times a year? This kind of vehicle would actually make me even think about buying a cheby.
Well. Not really, but it's cool!

Why not! At $3.65 gallon at current prices, 2010 should be around $5.00 per gallon if not higher!

Don't worry, you will convert. Everyone sees the light eventually. Some just take a little longer than others.:D :D
