I'd LOVE to see what happens when the "Director of Toll Compliance's" house is in danger of burning down. Betcha his tune changes then.
Its all about karma...jackass.

My thoughts exactly. Especially if the fire dept says we could have been here sooner but didnt have the change for the toll.
Police, fire and ambulances should be EXEMPT from fees.

Well if they were fighting the fires they did not get a ticket. But they should pay IMO if they are just driving somewhere not responding to an emergency..02
Barbagallo said no emergency vehicles paid tolls when the wild fires raged throughout the region.
"We waived all emergency vehicles and tried to make sure that none of them got any violations whatsoever," he said.

I didn't know Ca. even had toll roads. The last toll road I used was in Florida. But we pay up the a$$ for bridges up here in Nor Cal though.
But as far as fire trucks go they should be free, it's not like they drive them off hours or home.

what it does not say is were they going code 3 or not... if not, they need to pay up. If they were its really rather simple... road construction for the next few years on the entrence to thier toll road. should take care of the prob... :D

Fire trucks don't roll code-3 on the freeway unless trying to get through slow traffic. Usually in close proximity to the scene of an accident. And if they were Code-3 they are exempt from the CVC.

Now I know CVC applys to toll roads, and leo/FD are exempt from most of CVC in route, but I can't find anything in the CVC about them being exempt from Toll road fees. ( cvc 23260-23330) chaper 13 is not listed as one of the chapters they are exempt from. Most likly a oversight. Still rather intresting. ( I know I'm strange... I like reading laws, technical manuels and the like. )

"This individual was expecting not to pay a toll merely because he was an (emergency) plated vehicle," said Frank Barbagallo, deputy director of toll compliance.
I agree! Glad they made him pay up.
