Well I did it, bought a 2001 dodge neon, with 68,000 on it for 3,000. Going to park the 3/4 ton chevy truck, only use it for river trips and when I need a truck I carpool so the days I dont drive the wife is going to drive it, and save her 2005 yukon. Iam so tired of supporting these arabs so that they can buy a 320 million A380 so he can have a flying palace. well Iam done venting.

I just bought a 94 Mitsubishi eclipse. Four cylinder 5 speed car for a 1000.00 bucks. Parked the Hot rod mustang. Should pay for itself in no time!!!:D Mike

With the money i used to spend in gas, I could have had a 250.00 car payment and still had money and gas left over. Thought about it many times. Just not the manly thing to do...:D

I'm doing that TODAY! Spending $50.00 a day on gas. (drive 55 mi. one way just to work) not to mention the wear and tear on my 4wd. 2500 diesel.
could save about 700.00 just on gas. If I ride my bike to work, I'll be able to save just enough to pay my house pmt. when my loan resets!

I did the same thing 6 months ago after the old duramax got stolen...The new Duramax is parked and I bought my grandma's 1994 Dodge spirit for $800 that I have put over 8K miles on....Sure not much ta' look at but has cold A/C and keeps the mileage of the truck:D

Did I just post that? I got a 2001 Neon also. Went from 5 mi a day commute to 90. It gets almost 30, frosty air, and comfortalbe. I'm 6'1 245 and I fit well. Its hard on brakes though cause you let off the gas and it just keeps rollin.

In 2004 I bought a Scion xB new for 16k. Payment was about 350 a month, with another 40 for insurance. The thing averages about 32 MPG City/Highway, which isn't too bad. I think at first it was about 14 bucks a week to fill, now it's about 25.
My diesel bill was over 100 a week then , It'll probably be 175-200+ if I drove it every day like I used to. Now the xB has 45k on it, the truck has only added about 9k since '04. Heck, despite making the new car payment, I believe I actually saved a bit of money buying that car.

Great idea about the commuter car, I drive a civic, but the Neon is a big Piece of crap. Had one nothing but problems, good luck, the savings on gas from my V-10 to my civic makes my boat payment.
