Today I stumbled across this link:

Mastercraft Boats, popular ski boat manufacturer, has come out with a boat hosting a Volkswagen turbo diesel. SWEET!!! It's quieter than gas engine models and consumes less fuel.
Check it out.

Ok - this is a modified motor out my Diesel Rabbit that I hit a wild boar with on the way home from a high school cross country meet a few years back. (Back side of Naci has wild pigs running loose). It got 60 miles per gallon at 55 mph on the flats - at 2K RPM. The motor went a long time, but don't know how good for pulling a skier behind it. I would contact the MasterCraft Rep and ask for a demo session first.
Now, if you put a Cummins Diesel in there - now you're cooking. Overgear the tranny and don't run her above 1800 RPM for optimal efficiency. At 3K RMP, she'll get up and go.
