What is the deal here? I just did a tour of the city, and this place could really rock. Lots of navigable water, a great park with water features, connects to SF Bay, Sac, and the Delta, a marina with arguably negative issues, but there are lots of great waterways to explore. I can't even get my wife to drag the boat from Havasu up here.
I'm gonna guess the DLB will chime in not wanting the extra traffic, but this place is very nice, and very navigable, with ocean-going ships at the port.

Yeah, there is a lot of waterways, canals & the deep water channel.
They say the delta has over a thousand miles of river shore.
Housing is very affordable also!
Did you just move out this way, what brought you to Stockton?
There's a great group of ***boaters that frequent the delta,
try going down the deep water channel to Windmill cove or Lost Isl.
on the weekend, lots to see;)

I'm just up for a day's training, then on to Sac (right in Old Town, they gave me a riverboat hotel on the river:D ) for tonight, a quick meeting tomorrow with State guys, and then back home.
We stayed at Sugarbarge several years ago when we bought the Donzi - it could be the bad taste in her mouth over that boat purchase that keeps her from wanting to come up.
How bad does the corrosion get, and how far upstream does the salt/brine go? Could we go to SF via the boat without worry?

Corrosion isn't bad on the delta,
The water is fairly fresh until you get to Martinez,
Yes, thats a nice trip through the delta via the Stockton deep water channel, on past Oakley/Antioch/Pittsburg/Martinez/Benicia/Crockett/Richmond & on to S.F.
It's a long haul though, not a day trip, maybe spend the night at Angel Island or S.F.
Definitely lot's to see!

Does it get rough? Could we do it at 60 or so, or would the water be too big for that? How do you handle the ocean-going ships?
I stayed last night at the Delta King, a refurbished riverboat right in old downtown Sac. Very cool - hotrod jet boats rumbling past on the river, Santana playing at a venue across the river, and an amazing, but pricey, restaurant. I had the calamari, clam chowder, and seafood pasta dish. Awesome!
The river didn't seem as fast as last time I was there - I even watched a houseboat spin around in the middle of the channel and moor on the west side, right across from the Delta King.
I'm working on the wife to do a Delta boat vacation this year, but the RV needs service, which is expensive, and then with diesel at $5.20 or better, it gets worse. We may pass this year and just go to Havasu - we're already making payments there.

For several years we vacationed for 2 weeks at B&W. Loved taking trips down the deep water channel to stockton for lunch.

We've been running in a silver Dodge Ram 3500, but as soon as I get the Tahiti running, we'll take both over and leave them, then I'll be going in the silver MINI Cooper S, with an Advantage license plate frame, or a silver Bakersfield Jeep Rubicon 2 door.

HOW DID YOU GET THE PICTURES TO COME INTO THE SCREEN?
I took a bunch of pics of Stockton and Sacramento, but haven't been able to post any that would be on the screen.

I use photobucket as my host, then copy the URL from there and click on the mountain icon and paste it here.
