We spent two weeks on Shaver Lake every summer from the early 80's up until about 4 years ago.
The elevation is about 5400 I think so it's much cooler up ther when compared to the temperatures down the hill in Fresno. It actually starts to cool off in September so bring warm clothes for at night.
Are you camping or staying in town? Camp Edison, yes owned by Southern California Edisosn as is the lake and the entire forest surroudning it and the other lakes up the hill from Shaver. Anyway, Camp Edison is real nice.
I have all sorts of fond memories of sumemr spent at Shaver. I hope to take my boat back there someday as you don't see too many customs up there.

I go to Shaver at least once every year (usually in August as the water will warm up some). I'll be there the weekend before labor day weekend. Camped at Camp Edison. It is a very much family lake, and is also very beautiful lake. I'll be up there in a flat bottom v-drive. There is always a couple hot rods up there, but not much. Some great times up there. I highly recommend it!!! Ok, now for the bad part, lots of boulders in the lake that like to eat props. Becareful as they are not marked, but the water is pretty clear and usually easy to see. But I have seen a couple "reshaped" props come out of there.

The worst part for the boulders is off the point of the boy scout camp on the South end of the lake.
69Elim, August is when we would go as well, we took the week before Labor day and the week after. Sometimes we would go the first two weeks in August. Ahh, the memories. http://free.***boat.net/ubb/smile.gif
