Been sitting in a hotel in Commerce waiting for a call to go to work. This will be my first road trip on the train. This waiting thing is strange, train times change constantly. The way it looks, might be midnight before I report. I've been waiting since noon. Well, that's how it goes.
Hey Leon :D

Don't start drawing pay until I get on the train. Well, normally, being a student and all, I'm drawing that fat salary all the time LMAO!!! All the others have been called and made their trips, hell, one guy is on his way back! I don't envy him, he got called pretty much right away last night at about 10pm and didn't make it to Barstow until 10am :jawdrop:
On the bright side, I get to watch the Sappranos for the first time! Yeah, that oughta make the phone ring :D

I'll be playing this game for the next 3 weeks! I may have the 23rd 24th and 25th off, so we'll see how that pans out.

Growing up I spent all the school holidays and summers working at my parent's biz on Shiela Street. Backed up right to the ATSF yard. Used to catch rides with the guys running the switch locos in the yard. That is some serious equipment! Always amazed me how many tracks were out there and all the big trains that filtered through there all the time... :)

Here we go, got the call. Report at 0130 for a slow train leaving at 0300. Might make it to Barstow by 3pm tomorrow. Glad I took that power nap!

Well, that was an interesting 3 weeks! If I never see the road again it will be too soon! Wasn't too bad, but when you run with guys that need the money, it's rough. Especially when you aren't making any money. I had a good time and I take my final exam on Friday. I missed 2 questions out of 200 on the pre-test, so I'm not worried. I hope to get the boat on the water in the next couple of weeks, I miss the hell out of you bastards!

I'm in my 1st week of conductor class here! 1 more month and I mark Up! Should be a busy summer! Hard to figure the schedule to predict when called up! Usually when home 20-24 hrs and away terminals usually back in 12-16 hrs! Good job so far, lots to learn!
Good Luck!
