HELP Does anyone know a way to stop the spam I get through my Outlook Express. I have made someones list and dear God you would think I am some kinda freak (or normal) with the shit that comes rollin out on my email. My provider does not have a filter so I am getting about 15 of them a day.
No I dont need a bigger d**k or a date or natural viagra or big titted teens or natural teens or free passwords or ............ well maybe I do! But when I decide I need these things I will call you. Bastards are killing me! I guess they dont think I have any kids. It should be illegal.
If I dont find something I am going to cancel that name but I hate to since some many people have it.

Whatever you do DON'T hit the button or link to be taken off their mailing list.
All this does is let them know that it is a valid address, and it will be sold to other spammers with a notation that it IS valid.
These low-lifes buy CD-Roms with a few million addresses on them. If they know it is truly a valid address, they put it on a list of "Guaranteed" addresses, and sell them for more money.
There are several states (Arizona is one) that is pushing legislation to outlaw mass email spamming.
You can also configure Outlook Express to block emails from certain senders, and also create "rules" that will send messages containing specific words directly to the "deleted" file.
Click on "tools", then on "message rules" and create your own rules to get rid of the trash.
Good Luck

Update your anti-virus. My provider does have a filter and stops more of the things I do want than don't. If it helps, your not alone. burningm

Anyone know a good spam program that does the filtering automatically.

When you open the e-mail, it pulls the image from the server...and BAM...they know you opened it, and therefore it's a valid e-mail address.
They have people surfing the internet all day long looking for valid e-mail addresses. Like Alan said, they sell these lists.

there are 2 problems out there now. One how to get rid of that crap, and two how to keep that 1 pixel file from screwing the whole thing. The way to prevent the 1 pixel file from screwing you is by finding the domain and blocking it in IE explorer. To totally block that stuff off is to block the address from sending you anything. Well they can send it but outlook will essentially flip it the bird and send it back. I forgot the exact way to do it but I will find out and post it or PM you.

before you open e-mail from a address and you're not sure who's it from, right click and hit properties, it will give you there e-mail address if you don't recognize it delete it. like boatcop said the message rules really helps

I know that under normal circumstances, if you send someone an email it will be marked as "Read" as soon as whatever program they are using to read it pulls it off their providers server even though they may not have actually opened it.
Do you think this imbedded image acts in the same way or does the email have to be opened? If it is the former then I don't think it is possible to "preview" emails while they are on the server?

Well...I don't know about AOL. etc...but Outlook is run on an Microsoft Exchange Server. Since it is a proprietary configuration, they can use the server for a "read notification" service.
The embedded image e-mail is a way of cheating to get a "read notification" across any HTML server...kinda like a little homing pigeon. When it is viewed, it pulls the image...so a preview would do the same thing. If you can see it...it's too late. If you can't see it, then the image is still stitting there.
Just like the boards...everytime you open a thread with an image in it, it downloads from the host server...it counts as a "hit".

Farm animals. I seen the video. I never want to see anything like that again. Hot large breasted teens yes I like but not in spam. With outlook when you click on to delete it opens. I know better than to go to one of those sites or you are bombarded. My server does not have any filters. There is no way to put in ever word they use under the tools. I was hoping there was some software to use to filter. I have Norton System Works but I dont see any thing about Spam filters. I loaded as many words as I could think of under tolls and still had 13 of those damn things. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!
